Surprisingly incoherent and boring
This is a must-see and one of the best documentaries - and films - of this year.
View MoreThis film is so real. It treats its characters with so much care and sensitivity.
View MoreI read the original book that this was based on, and I wonder what the producer was thinking when he let the screenwriter change it. While Nora Roberts' book wasn't Pulitzer material by any stretch of the imagination, at least it had depth and substance. Some thing this film lacks in spades. What's left in it's place is a cheap thriller. What Nora Roberts wasn't writing was an adventure tale. Her story was a deeply personal one about a man and a woman who are chasing their own demons. Demons which keep them from opening up to another person and the love that might be offered. None of this is captured on screen when you are watching this movie.I have always found Jenny Seagrove's acting talent left much to be desired and never more so than here. As for John Shea, this is definitely a far cry from his good performance in "Missing" and his riveting one in "Small Sacrifices". The man hams it up like there is no tomorrow. Paul Freeman at least tries, and that isn't really saying much.I hope that you'll do a disappearing act if anyone suggests this movie to you.
