Self-important, over-dramatic, uninspired.
Really Surprised!
Boring, long, and too preachy.
All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
View MoreThis documentary really only scratches the surface of the iceberg that is the Mormon Church. Its main purpose is to show a collection of members of the church and how they're good, normal people. The film's purpose seems to be that of showing its audience, "See? Mormons are just normal, average Christians." In that purpose, the film succeeds. The movie steers clear of most of the Church's doctrine, its historical controversy, and such. Probably important to most people, it doesn't depict the most typical Mormon family: white, nuclear family that was born in the church and raised the family in the church. It does a fair job in exploring some Mormons, how their religion affects how they view others or they view their Christian duty. There are some very tender and profound moments. It's on Youtube on the Mormon Channel, so if you're curious, give it a watch.
View MoreI'm guessing that the possibility of a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints member being elected president of the United States may have inspired the making of Meet The Mormons. Certainly in 2012 they became more visible than all the missionaries combined ever did with Mitt Romney's presidential candidate.Six Mormon stories from around the globe were told in Meet The Mormons. As this was a public relations film from the LDS church there best foot forward was put out. It was also quite deliberate that non-Caucasians were used. Mormons still have a public relations problem with darker pigmented people. The one that really interested me was the Naval Academy football coach. Who'd have thunk it, but there it is and the film had some footage of a White House banquet where Pacific Islander coach Ken Niumatololo got some kudos from President number 44. The Costa Rican female kick-boxing champion was also interesting. It's a nicely public relations and as always LDS stuff outstrips Christian fundamentalist films by light years.
View MoreI absolutely LOVE this movie! I think it does a great job of showing how Mormons live day to day. And, it is such a diverse documentary, showing the lives of people who have been through a wide variety of struggles and experiences. This movie really puts Mormons out there: it shows us the lives of people who we can all relate to in some way. And, most importantly, it really is a movie about love, service, devotion, and Christ-like qualities. I recommend this movie to anyone who is looking to be and feel inspired! This movie will leave you wanting to serve your family and friends, as well as be more devoted to Christ and his commandments.
View MoreI was extremely excited to see this movie, because my daughter's song is featured at the end of the movie. She wrote it several years ago and published it on her own CD, the Mormon Church liked the message and used it in the movie...you would have thought it was specifically written for this project. The movie is awesome and the people they picked to feature are all good examples of how each one of us can effect the world for the better. Stephanie has written many inspiring songs and I'm so glad David Archuleta was chosen to cover this one...perfect choice! The movie will leave you inspired to do better and serve your fellow man, go see it, you'll at least love "Glorious performed by David A....-wink- signed, one proud Dad
