Maidexpl

Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast

Wow..what movie was that. The era of Thampurans and Madambis who were long expunged from the power centers of feudal Kerala now come back with a vengeance in this iconic Hero movie of Mohanlal. Every ingredient of it is just right. Here is a righteous man from pedigreed background who is also an ex IAS to boot, villains from the everyday world that we see around like corrupt Chitti company bosses with dirty political connections, policemen working as if they are the personal body guards of influential men, pliant women, hero worshiping bunch of men, strong father, righteous mother, justice, truth, non violence and some well executed fight scenes all mixed in this wonderous mass movie of all time, must watch for all Lal fans. The plum of the pudding was the short cameo role by Mammootty, who in his characteristic English delivers some lengthy cross questioning and towers over in that 20 minutes of appearance.Credit must be given to Shaji Kailas who was before or after never quite attained the sort of direction mastery of a similar plot. Ranjith wrote from where he left off after Aram Thampuran, smarting from the disappointment that was Ustad. One scene is well remembered. After Induchoodans initial fight scene with Bhaskaran in the market an angry Cheriammama (Jagathy) comes back from Guruvayur in haste, fully aware that further indiscretions of Induchoodan will land him deep in trouble. In a single shot -> camera facing from the inside of house towards courtyard characters come in go out, execute dialogs, jeep enter new characters join in. Induchoodan is playing with every one and is perceived much superior and arrogant but all the while likable in a single extended shot. Direction was art there. And there follows the famous "adipoli" song of all time right after...The movies success can be analyzed also in this way. it combined plot of Spadikam, Kireedam (father son relationship), Aram Thampuran (one who comes back with a score to settle), Devasuram (parentage secrets in family) set in north central Kerala (Shoranur and Thrissur) where valluvanda malayalam rules. Dialogues are shorn of excessive philosophy (Aram Thampuran, Ustad) to make it simpler but is of much higher standard than typical mass fare. N F Varghese essayed a nuanced villain to perfection, sad to reflect that we lost a great talent. Sai and Raghu were all perfectly cast. Narendraprasad was grossly underutilised as Moopil Nair.

Narasimham is a superb commercial entertainer. This movie portrayed another face of Mohanlal's acting skills. From the start to the end, the viewers are taken to various emotions of laughter, tears, anger, rush of blood etc.Every scene in the movie makes an impact with the viewers. It was good to see Mohanlal in an all new avatar. This movie stands tall with its strong story being the backbone.Supporting actors like Thilakan,Aiswarya,Jagathy are the icing on the cake. The villain role played by late N.F Varghese is simply superb.Shaji kailas should be thanked for making this movie superb.Songs and BGM are good thanks to M.G Radhakrishnan. It ran for more than 150 days in many cinemas in kerala.. Overall, this movie is a megahit.A must watch..super action thriller.. I give it a 9/10..

Shaji Kailas tried his level best to ruin the career of Mohanlal by raising him to a superhuman level. Mohanlal a gifted natural actor, was made to do roles that required to utter lengthy and stupid dialogs which lacked natural tone. Initially, his fans lapped up each and every movie until when they got tired and started to stay away from them. Mohanlal deliberately tried to escape the superhuman image created on him and at last got successful with movies like thanmatra and rasathanthram. But still, Shaji Kailas has not changed. He is still trying to make a superhero out of every single actor and the time is very near when he'll be considered the most unsuccessful director in Malayalam. In Narasimham, the director just ripped off an image of Superstar Mohanlal and recreated it in a different milieu. The story is wafer thin, but the dialogs are bombastic. How can you describe the feeling when you hear somebody speaks for around 15 minutes in a stretch and utters a punch dialog as stupid as "po mone dinesha" (and who's that???). I was waiting for the interval to have a breath of fresh air.In short, Narasimham is a strict NO for all good moviegoers. Its a movie which raised mohanlal as a superstar and destroyed mohanlal as an actor.

Mohanlal is the ULTIMATE simham...not one boring frame in this motion picture..his double entndre lines are delivered with aplomb!... Mamooty better get out of the way because Mohnalal is the real simham of malayalam cinema (aka keralawoodthe direction is highly kinetic and the dialogues poetically beautiful...i've never seen so much ingenious use of Simham imagery..I LOVED IT!...the songs sucked however..except that crazy one where everyone was drunk..highly entertaining!...other movies tried to capture Narasimham's MAGIC but failed miserably...there will only be one..THE SIMHAM IS IMMORTAL!
