A Disappointing Continuation

SpunkySelfTwitter

It’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.

If you're interested in the topic at hand, you should just watch it and judge yourself because the reviews have gone very biased by people that didn't even watch it and just hate (or love) the creator. I liked it, it was well written, narrated, and directed and it was about a topic that interests me.

A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

This movie,is actually not bad,for what it is...a FICTIONAL version of the events. Many reviewers seemed to have been expecting real life, out of a fictional movie. Fine, that's their right&choice, but for the fictionalized movie that it is,it's really not too bad,if you don't go into it,expecting the true story...which it's not. 'Based on a true story, etc',does not always mean it is THE true story,or even the whole story,in some movies. The metal music is fitting though, since he was a satanist into metal/rock. I like movies for what they are, though&don't give a hoot about who directs them, etc. Many people are 'nitpickers',who LOVE to nitpick movies apart, rather than just try&enjoy them as they are. Whatever. I liked it pretty well, though it could have done without so much of the spazzy effects,in some parts&I would have liked more to be shown,in the kill/rape scenes, you know,to show how sadistic, violent&&terrifying he really was. No,the ending was not the real deal, not even close to what really happened, but then again...it is a fiction, loosely based on The Night Stalker,(Richard Ramirez)&his crimes, not a genuine true account of those events. If you know that going in,it might not be so bad. Give it a chance. (:

Well, this movie was, quite frankly, on crack. It was really jumpy (kind of like an even more drugged-out Requiem for a Dream - which says a lot.) This worked in some places, particularly when the NightStalker was, in fact, doing drugs. However, the part that has him walking up the stairs a good half-dozen times was too much. This movie in no way told the story of Richard Ramirez (or Robert Ramirez, as the summary on this website says.) The most glaring problem? Ramirez is currently awaiting execution on California's death row, for goodness sakes! I heart Danny Trejo, so that was probably this films saving grace. Even so, all I can say is: I watched it once. I would not be opposed to watching it again, but believe me, I will not be the one saying, "Hey, you know what would be GREAT to watch right now?! Nightstalker!"

There is no truth to be found in this movie, however, based on it that it may be. Only the acting by the movies two main characters is anything close to truth. Too bad the writing and directing strive for too much. This movie is a slasher with an odd twist (besides the "based on true story" riff raff), that is it shows a man hopping around too modern heavy metal dressed like demon in rocker's clothing. This is an insane devil man, so i guess that means the main character is too. He doesn't ever let his victims or us see his face because he has body-dysmorphic disorder. He needs a prostitute friend in the beginning then decides to kill her and everyone in the neighborhood while demon man hops around in his head as he smokes crack. Roselyn Sanchez plays the lead and her role is just as confusing as everyone else in the movie. She has a knack for finding the killer. Screws up in during her new promotion to homicide leaking clues on the TV news. And there is a scene where she gets the bad guy...the end.

well I had hoped for more from this movie..I see this movie was highly rated by both Fangoria and sundance..I'm not sure why.The story is based loosely on the true story of Richard Ramirez.Basically this guy smokes crack and we see through some kind of neat effects that he is tormented and a possible schizophrenic,as he goes around killing people and raping. It is not very graphic, and has a lot of logic flaws and underdeveloped characters. The "crack head effect" is cool but overused.I thought the ending was its weakest moment and the start its best.Thhis could have been a lot more.Just worth watching.
