Plot so thin, it passes unnoticed.
I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
View MoreAt first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.
View MoreClose shines in drama with strong language, adult themes.
View MoreLive from Chicago, ILAttendance: 8,000Your hosts are Jim Ross & Magnum T.AMichael 'P.S.' Hayes Vs The Russian Assassin #1 (W/Paul Jones)Hayes wins with a DDT. For a match that went 15 minutes, this match was pretty mundane. The Russian Assassin's offense consisted of wear down holds that are liable to put you to sleep. Not exactly a good choice to start a show.*1/2Sting Vs "Hacksaw" Butch ReedIn a controversial finish, Reed has Sting in a pinning predicament. The referee removes Reed's hand from the ropes, then Sting reverses it to get the pin. A brawl between the two commences afterwards with Sting getting the upper hand. We're not off to a very good start here. This wasn't much better than the opening contest. It featured too many chinlocks from Reed. When Sting was on offense, it got better. *3/4Loser Leaves the NWAThe Midnight Express & Jim Cornette) Vs The Original Midnight Express & Paul E. Dangerously The loser is forced to leave the NWA. The Midnight Express beat The Original Midnight Express. This was a fun match! It started off a little slow, but really picked up after a while to become a solid match. Seeing Cornette and Dangerously wrestle was amusing as well. ***Television ChampionshipRick Steiner (C) (W/Scott Steiner) Vs Mike RotundaRick Steiner's shoulders were down on the mat as he applied a sleeper hold to Rotunda. Therefore, Rotunda wins the title. I didn't mind this match. There was a lot of amateur wrestling between the two that made things a bit slow at times. That being said, it wasn't anything horrible. The finish was certainly unique.**1/4United States ChampionshipBarry Windham (C) Vs Lex LugerWindham delivers a German Suplex with a bridge to get the three count. However, Luger gets his shoulder up, and gets awarded the championship. Windham is incensed and viciously assaults Luger with the title belt. I'm gonna call this match solid, simply because of the excellent psychology between the two. I wouldn't call it great, but the two delivered more often than not.**3/4Tag Team ChampionshipThe Road Warriors (C) (W/Paul Ellering) Vs Kevin Sullivan & 'Dr. Death' Steve WilliamsThe Road Warriors win in another controversial finish. Man, what's with all the finishes tonight? One or two, I don't mind, but three or four? It's a bit much. The match was pretty average anyways. **World Heavyweight ChampionshipRic Flair (C) (W/Hiro Matsuda) Vs Ricky SteamboatThis is probably why you're watching this PPV. I wish IMDb didn't have a word limit so I could review the match. Steamboat wins the title with an inside cradle after a Figure Four attempt by Flair. This match is the definition of a classic. They paced themselves perfectly and turned it into a flawless match. It was just pure wrestling at it's finest with two o the best to ever lace up their boots. We also get spoiled with two more classic encounters between these two. One at Clash of the Champions, and another at Wrestlewar. *****This is really a one match show. The PPV as a whole is rather forgettable. It's worth watching for Steamboat and Flair alone.5.5/10
