Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.

It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...

Steven Seagal has probably never starred in a particularly good film, but maybe that's not what we expect from him anyway. We want him to beat up the bad guys, defend the weak, be relentless in seeking justice and deliver his lines with a wooden face. We expect profound silences, deep meditations and a couple of snappy wisecracks here and there before lashing out. Out for Justice is one of those films — and in my opinion, it is easily Seagal's best.It is not a cinematic milestone by any stretch of the imagination, and due to the excessive violence that instills blood into every frame, I wouldn't exactly recommend it for women and children either, but it might be a fitting choice for letting off steam after a high-octane football match. Needless to say, the moral message of the movie is questionable, but vigilante vengeance was controversial in Taxi Driver, too.For those who like this type of action movies, Out for Justice offers exactly the right ingredients, served at an unrelenting pace, with no gratuitous romance or rose-tinted glasses. In a manner befitting the grim environment, Seagal remains unflinching throughout, his face smileless, showing no mercy or compassion towards the bad guys. It's a tough world and it's a tough movie for tough guys.

As much as I enjoy watching movies about bad guys, especially the main villain, get their comeuppance, I can't say I particularly enjoyed Out For Justice. The problem with the story, is that the villains are not people you love to hate, and as a result, I didn't much care what would happen. Sure, Seagal kicks butt, and shoots the baddies, which about the only thing this movie has going for it, but he's no Stallone, Schwarzenegger, or Bronson. He certainly doesn't sound like a tough guy. The movie may have drama, but there's no bite or suspense, and doesn't do the "Death Wish" films any justice.** out of ****

This is Steven Seagal doing bad a$$ Steven Seagal. He's beating up a suspect, throwing him through a windshield. He's a cop dressed like a mobbed up thug. He's stick fighting. He's throwing unarmed bad guy out the window to his death. He's flipping William Forsythe around like a rag doll. It's a 10 for Steven Seagal fans for love his shtick. It's a 0 for people who hate mindless meaningless violence. So I'll split the difference and give it a 5. Don't look for good acting or good writing. It is strictly an one-man show and Steven Seagal's self-love.

"Out for justice" is a movie that pretends to have some plot , but it doesn't have any . Seagal just walks around and kicks butt looking for murderer . The few non-action scenes don't really have any meaning at all . They just there , because you can't make nonstop action with no dialogue. The investigation isn't interesting and the movie tries to fill time by Seagal talking about his past or subplot with the dog . The only plus is that the fight scenes are actually cool and impressive . They shouldn't make this movie . They should record only the fight scenes and put them on youtube. It would be much wiser. Action movie without no real plot just doesn't work . That's why the porn movies pretends to have some plot. Otherwise the sex would be boring.William Forsythe usually plays good guys , but here he works well as a villain . Seagal seems to be interested in the movie and actually tries hard to put some emotion into his performance. He fails , but I appreciate the effort. The dog is cute.Don't watch this movie unless you are a Seagal fan. I give it 3/10.
