After losing his family when he was young, Nam-soon feels no pain. He cannot feel physical pain and is emotionally barren until he meets Dong-hyeon, who calls herself a vampire because she suffers from hemophilia. Unlike Dong-hyeon, when Nam-soon is injured, she bleeds from even the smallest wound. As the two grow closer, Dong-hyeon suddenly begins to lose his lifelong insensitivity to pain and the hurt of a lifetime washes over him.

A Major Disappointment

Hayden Kane

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

It's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

The word 'Pained' which is also the title of this movie is very strong. It is depicted in a wonderful way in this movie. If you are looking fora dukhyaa (sad) plus sentimental movie with a touch of romance, this one is for you. I loved Nam soon's acting. The beauty of this movie lies in the fact that the hero is insensitive to pain but meeting a sick scrawny girl he surely falls in love with and knows how it feels when the person you love is hurt. It is really painful to watch Nam-soon getting beaten up for nothing. It is painful to see him blaming himself for his family's death. It is painful to see them both die at the end. It is painful to see that he prayed in the church for the girl and not for himself. It is painful to see that they don't get to live together forever(which they wanted badly). It is painful to see that they don't get to die in peace but in pain infront of all those men. This movie shows some great and strong emotions. It also shows how far can you go for your love. It reminds us of all the pain people are going through around us. This movie surely has the potential of stabbing you off and on in the heart and making you feel the pain so beware!

With Kwon Sang-woo never failing to prove that he is indeed one of Korea's most brilliant dramatic actors, this movie will surely tear your heart apart. It started off as funny but prepare to be moved when the movie ends. Story is basically one of those deja vu movies, you've seen it all, its not new to your eyes..yet this movie will still cater to your emotional side. The story starts with the lead character-a loan shark- engaging in a very unique way of earning money. Why isn't it a surprise that its in this type of business will his life change? Two lone souls meet each other in literally violent ways. Two persons whose lives are inflicted with some sort of burden finally find love in each other's arms. Easy to read, easy to predict, slightly unrealistic and unlikely to happen..yet sad to watch. It was painfully sad—so double the sadness. Its got a powerful love scene too. Its a very touching selfless type of love story..something about real love and finally having a reason to live for. Don't expect to see the storyline being a first of its kind. But if you want something extremely sad, then this one's for you.
