Too much of everything
If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
View MoreThis is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
View MoreIt's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
View MoreThis is an unusual period drama, since instead of exalted drawing room romance and subtle communications the story takes place in the backwoods and features a very neurotic gentleman. This character is so obnoxious that it is difficult to keep watching the movie, though introverted viewers may empathize with his obsessive hypersensitivity and social maladjustment. But as the plot progresses we see that he isn't that much crazier than the rest of society, just more sincere about it. This movie succeeds in immersing you in the time and place, and the acting is on point, particularly the ladies who are captivating despite not really being knockouts.
