All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.

The film is understated. Everything that happens is believable, nothing crazily exaggerated for the movies. The protagonist is half of a gay male couple. He is a doctor. He is quite sensitive. The world around him treats him quite badly, no matter how hard he tries to play fair and compassionately. His neighbours pretend to be liberal and accepting, while teaching their kids homophobia behind his back.In one brilliant scene, he has to give a little girl a vaccination. She asks him if he is a "homo". He answers yes. Then she asks what it means. He explains he loves males rather than females. She asks him who in particular he loves. She has no prejudice at all. Her father bursts in and violently accuses him of being a paedophile. Nobody in the movie seems to understand the difference between gay and paedophile. Our protagonist sees it as pointless to try to set them straight.Our protagonist is compassionate. He is able help others by seeing the world from their perspective, and by ignoring the rude or thoughtless things they say.The boy is a brat, but not an outrageous brat. He comes around just from continuous gentle kindness.

I just love the movie, it's beautifully done. The development of each characters emotions is spot in this movie. I love every bits of the movie. Although the other details could have been prepared better, I still think the production team have done a great job focusing on the 3 main characters. Regardless of the others, the 3 actors did a wonderful especially Patrik and Goran. It does not contain too much(any) softcore porn like a particular gay-themed movie does and it's definitely watchable for all. The storyline is just wonderful, cute, and refreshing. It's just keeping you smile hours after the movie. It even gets to the point where I said to myself that I wish that I will get the same family too. lol. The best thing about this movie is that it's simply a snapshot of what happens to these characters in the situation. It doesn't have any agenda, it's not trying to make a point, it's not preaching, and yet it accomplishes some of that by simply showing you the reality itself. It's funny and yet heart-tugging without being syrupy or melodramatic. The casting was spot-on, even through the supporting characters. The script is solid, the direction is clear and concise, and the actors bring their best. I am currently looking to find other films the 3 main characters are in, hoping for the same level of quality. I usually hate sub-titled films because you miss the nuances the actors are giving you in both their expressions and their delivery, but it was worth it here. Bravo.

A film all based on qui pro quos. A gay married couple in Sweden comes into a new neighbourhood. Goran is a doctor and Sven is his husband. They were accepted for adoption but they were finally answered that no country in the world accepts to entrust a child for adoption to a homosexual couple. The deception is great but one day a letter arrives from social services. It contains a mistake and they are announced they will get a child of 1.5 years of age, Patrik is his name.Unluckily the kid that arrives is in fact 15, mother dead, father unknown, ten years in foster homes and institutions, a lot of delinquent acts, etc. Sven panics completely whereas Goran accepts the child, or rather teenager. Strangely enough Patrik is going to help Goran and Sven get accepted in the neighbourhood because he becomes the gardener of everyone, for money of course, and he becomes the skateboard coach of the kids in the street, etc.The end is a happy ending of course and it is not the real interest of the film. The real interest is to show that after and beyond all kinds of prejudices people deeply need at any age simple contact with others, contact that is called love and that it has nothing to do with sex really. Love is the food of angels and all children, and all people should be angels and get their ration, and even more that that everyday, of love.And it is so simple at times to find what can give someone the certainty they are loved, the guarantee they will be loved. Of course it is not simple and it cannot be easy to do but it is needed, provided people get out of their fears and fear is bigotry most of the time. We have no reason to be afraid of anything. To give a child one's own shirt for that child to look good when he needs to look good is more important than all the treasures of Arabia.That's the message of this film, and as such it works marvellously.Dr Jacques COULARDEAU
