Very well executed
the audience applauded
Ok... Let's be honest. It cannot be the best movie but is quite enjoyable. The movie has the potential to develop a great plot for future movies
View MoreNot sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.

View MoreFlipped through Netflix and found this. Liked this more than I thought I would. This is the 2nd film in a 4-part series. They throw you in the deep end without backstory, but I didn't have much trouble figuring out based on the context. This film revolves around a group of teens with powers who're trying to shut down a supernatural event that brings monsters into the world each day for an hour. There is a very dramatic for two of the characters, which I won't reveal. The film moves at a leisurely pace deftly handling both drama/dialogue and action. I liked all the myriad characters and the humor. The big climax is effective and touching.Animation is beautiful in this. One of the best looking anime films of the decade. The monster designs are distinctive. Macabre/whimsical if you will.Sadly, the cost of the films (which are imported instead of distributed through American companies) are pricey and none of the other films are on Netflix.
View MoreThanks to a perfect balance of comedy, action, character development, and tragedy, "Midsummer Knight's Dream" is a wonderful sequel. I guess you could say that the first movie was the tutorial of the series. Now that the tutorial is over, the real game can begin. The antagonists have come out, the conflict is clear, and now Yuki and company have a real reason to fight. The climax to this is intense, themes of revenge and coming to terms with what you've done culminate in the ultimate sacrifice from Shinji in a total tear-jerker. I can't wait to see where the story goes from here, but I can bet we haven't seen the last of Strega or the Shadows.
