Plot so thin, it passes unnoticed.
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
View MoreOne of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.
View MoreStory: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.
The Pink Panther takes on the role of a poor man's friend in Medieval England, as it is tax season and the government is out collecting tax from poor citizens, including the pointy-nosed man. When he couldn't pay his share, he gets incarcerated. Therefore, the Pink Panther plans to rescue him - resulting in one failed attempt after the other. After some foiled attempts, running around and even stumbling in an alligator pit, it appeared that the Pink Panther and the Pointy-Nosed Man got the upper hand but were both captured in the end; not even Robin Hood could pull off a rescue. Some laughs and comedy at first, but a bummer ending, especially for a cartoon.Grade D+
View MoreNot one of Pinky's best, still entertaining, even with a somewhat routine story and a final third(apart from the clever ending touch) that got too silly(could have been much funnier if paced a little less hectically and not reading of one big dumb chase sequence, which is how it turned out). The animation is bright and elegant, while maintaining the minimal simplicity that has always been part of the Pink Panther cartoons' charm. The jazzy scoring also appeals as is the theme tune, as said so many times one of those theme tunes that you can't get enough of even when heard so many times you lose count. The pace is generally brisk while not too rushed and for the first two thirds of Pinkcome Tax the gags are clever and a joy to watch really. All in all, a very good cartoon, if it weren't for the ever so slightly lacking final third it would have been a great one. 8/10 Bethany Cox
View MoreIt's the days of knights and castles and immediately we see this fantastic castle surrounded by a moat. Two snarling knights with lances come riding out with banners that say, "Your Friendly Tax Collectors" smashing some poor little guy. They actually are the henchman for the tax collector, who is a little guy. He goes to two houses and takes everything the poor peasants have. At the third house, the guy can't buy so he's thrown into a dungeon. The Pink Panther, complete with Robin Hood hat, is nearby observing all of this. Our goodhearted hero then writes not, makes a paper airplane out of it and sails it through the jail window bars. Unfortunately, the paper plane sails through the jail and out the little window in the jail door. The guard sees it, reads the Panther's note which says, "Don't worry! Will rescue you at 2 o'clock. Signed, The Merryman."What trouble is the Panther in for now? Plenty, and the same with the guy in the jail already. This guard is not stupid. The battle between guard and prisoners is very funny at first, but the ending involves kind of a dumb chase scene, not the clever stuff in the first two-thirds of the animated short. Still, in all, it's humorous and recommended and at the very end is a clever twist involving the real Robin Hood.
