Self-important, over-dramatic, uninspired.
A Brilliant Conflict
It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.
View MoreIt's an amazing and heartbreaking story.
The most memorable scene is when Puteri pays visit to her family's steep land which are being bush-cleared by Iskandar and his three mute companions for cultivation. There sits Puteri near the stream overlooking the four guys working across the river, until she is interrupted by her fiancé, whom she starts to hate, and had a brief exchange of words.Location sets and the song composed by Manan Ngah (Gema Hati, or so) are just superb. Eman, Ogy (Fauziah), Erma, Rahim Razali, Ahmad Tarmimi, Yusof Wahab are known for their serious talents. Rahim's direction trademark: lots of insignificant accidental moves such as earrings slipped out from hand while talking and long dialogs without a pause. Perhaps it is not too much to say that from this film, Ogy learns to talk like Rahim Razali.Love this movie. I had to sneaked out from hostel to town cinema at night alone!
View MoreWell, the lead casts are brilliant. Fauziah Ahmad Daud who won Most Promising Actress in Asia Pasific Film Festival, are very talented. Her acting reminds me of Emma Thompson. She always knows very well what she's doing. Anyway her hairsyle needs more creative touch.
