View MoreI found elements of this movie interesting but found myself also thinking"oh no not another bad Canadian movie". So many Canadian movies I have watched offer poor lighting, sound and dark or weird plots with often even weirder endings. Maybe it it because the movie industry here does not have the money for their productions. I think the acting was mostly good but the crafting of the movie in my opinion was very poor and the bad sound became annoying. The story was interesting and intriguing but I just do not feel that overall it was executed as well as it could have been. So much of the background of Maarya was hazy even in the end. However, having said that I did hang in there and watch it until the end so there must have been enough to hold my interest.
View Moredon know what they are trying to say through this movie. I don even feel like talking about the story. There is not even a single character in the complete movie who is normal. Every relationship is shown with a distorted point of view. when the movie ends one feels why did i even bother to watch it. As for the story the the widower who owns a restaurant finds a prefect girl for his Canadian born son but ends up getting attracted to her. Then his son has his own secrets. The daughter in law(Nandana Sen) has a family secret when her brother comes in the picture. So things are all entwined and make no sense. It does not give a good feeling after watching it. Good actors like Nandana and Mohan Agashe have been wasted in this movie thoroughly. They wanted to talk about some sexual taboos but then they distracted to some other topics by bringing in some utterly bogus plots.
View MoreI think I loved this movie.I say I think because I am not sure I loved all of it...but maybe I did.It was so crazy with so many surprising and twisting turns to the story I felt like I was on a roller-coaster ride. The line of what was moving and dramatic and what was funny and perverse were so mixed.I did not know whether to laugh or squeal with discomfort. Having said all that...I think I love this movie, the premise is an arranged marriage between a gay son and a girl with an incredibly complicated background. The relationships between all the main 5 characters are eruptive and exciting to watch unfold. The actors are all great, especially Mohan Agashe as the doting father.Ryan Hollyman is hot and sexy as the heartfelt male love interest.Nadana Sen is also a pleasure to watch on screen. Overall it is a crazy ride and I think I loved it
View MoreWatching this movie was pure and unadulterated torture. It is a movie so appallingly bad that it cannot even be watched for poking fun at, like Plan 9 or Dolemite. Unlike Wood or Rudy Moore, this director has absolutely no endearing quality and comes across as a snob full of it. This movie is akin to ultra modern art, where a broken toilet or a piece of dog excrement is supposed have great artistic merit. I can count on fingers of one hand movies I've seen that are worse than Seducing Maarya. I shouldnt even talk about the story... let's just say it is terrible. Every scene is more awful than the previous. People laugh for no reason. And loudly too, and for minutes, and for the same (no) joke, till it drives you mad. Nandana Sen looks and acts horrid. The usually dependable Mohan Agashe is wasted and looks it. The less said about the direction and technical aspects the better. Please avoid this awful, awful mess.
