not horrible nor great
A Major Disappointment
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
View MoreThere's a more than satisfactory amount of boom-boom in the movie's trim running time.
View MoreOr 3 Slices of Life as the film seems be called in the credits is a low-budget anthology film featuring amateur actors and lots of gore. There is also nudity too.Synopsis: there are four stories here including the wraparound story Sketchers - A young woman wakes up on the lawn of motel with no memory of who she is. She is told that she works at the motel and is put back to work by the constantly inebriated owner. While there she here's voices telling to open one of three flesh-bound books of sketches. As she reads each the film fades into to tell the story. As each story ends she find that they are describing real events W.O.R.M – a lonely nerd working in the basement of a large marketing company thinks he has found a solution to getting people to like him but his plan goes very wrong. Amber Alert – A pregnant woman finds herself haunted by visions young girls who have gone missing in her neighbourhood. Pink Snapper – A brother and sister go on the run to escape a sexually abusive uncle. They find an unconscious man on the road by a large house. After taking him to the hospital they return to house and find his daughter locked up in the basement. The amateur acting film is definitely going to be a major turn-off for most people especially in the wraparound story but I kept watching and I have to say that the stories and the special effects really made it worth the effort. This film reminds of the type of films Frank Henenlotter makes, cheap and cheesy exploitation films with gore by the bucket. If you like films like Frankenhooker or Bad Biology then you may also like this.
View MoreAs a fan of low budget and indie films I was so disappointed in this movie. I liked the concept of the three part anthology, however it was so poorly written it just fell apart. The first part "Work Life" was the stupidest thing I've ever seen. I could tell from the very beginning I made a mistake when I choose this movie, but I kept an open mind assuming it has to get better, disappointingly it was just one big mess. I have seen better acting in grade school plays, seriously it amazes me that these "actors" are not embarrassed by this disaster of a film. It was not scary, suspenseful or even humorous! Just sad, so sad that this ever made it to my Video Store and I was lured into renting by the interesting cover. Perhaps the only interesting thing about this film, was it's DVD cover.Take heed and don't waste your hard earned money on this.
View MoreThis movie was forced upon me at a friends house and I should be clear that I did not enjoy it at all.Firstly I'd like to mention the acting. There is little to no acting in this film at all. Each one of the "actors" puts up a truly terrible performance and I don't believe that it's a matter of them trying to do it on purpose, these are just purely untalented people. The production value of the film is also laughable. I see no real reason why this movie should have played anywhere other than YouTube. It looks like some kid filmed it and used any number of computer programs to add his own gore and silly effects after he was done. The stories themselves were pretty predictable as you could easily tell how they were going to come twisting around since the poorly written script and even more awfully acted portion instantly gave away any surprises that would be coming later in that particular story. This has to be one of the most awful "films" I've ever seen, if not the absolute worst. I would not suggest to anyone to spend a cent on seeing this atrocity to film. Though there was ONE bright spot in the whole film: it came at the end when the movie was over.
View MoreJust read the reviews. Very easy to tell that they're written by people involved with the movie. Half of them were surely even written by the same person as they end in the same way, with an enthusiastic, "If you want to see a great movie or great horror or a good time or whatever, see Slices of Life" followed by an exclamation point. It's just sad that someone would go to that much trouble to get people to see a movie that's so terrible. Don't have much to say other than that. I get the appeal of wanting to make movies, it's what I'm going to school for. I think it's disheartening to see that some people worked so hard (it isn't easy, I know that, whether you're making something good or bad, filmmaking requires some real effort) on something that turned out to be garbage. All that there's left to say is, if you want to see a great horror movie with gore-galore and plenty of laughs..... well then maybe you'd be better off seeing something else!
