Lack of good storyline.

Good story, Not enough for a whole film

Mostly, the movie is committed to the value of a good time.

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

If you cannot follow these two rules, you will have a difficult time enjoying Smiley Face. Ready? Rule # 1 : Do not ask any questions. Rule #2: If you have a thinking cap, take it off! And those are the rules! Too many people "don't get it." That's because there's nothing to get, it's a stoner movie, people. And not a bad one at all, with that being said. The 2007 comedy stars, come on, clap those hands...it's Anna Farris! How can you not like the adorable, cutesy Anna? Director Greg Araki takes us on a trip on how she got from point A, to point Z. Point A begins our story, in her apartment, where she's just consumed a truck load of pot laced cupcakes. Point Z, well, she's up there on a ferris wheel, and not having any clue on how she got up there. So Smiley Face will take you by the hand, and fill you in on all her misadventures, and her wild and crazy day, which is nothing less then unpredictable. Her day is anything but boring. After directing the incredibly disturbing 2004 Mysterious Skin, I think our director decided to do something a little more...lighter and charming, and he does it with superb results. Well, I thought so, many may disagree. If you're missing any point to it all, it's just to take time to stop and smell the roses. I think. And hats of to our narrator, now part of the departed. Rest in peace, my dear friend!

Excellent movie, made me laughed all the way. Describes exactly what one would expect to be a 8 hours marijuana trip, with its fails and victories, laughs and fears, ups and downs. Though the plot is absolutely gripping, my biggest surprise was the flawless acting of Anna Faris, who seemed to be very into the part, having pot-like behaviors and looking like a real pothead. Giving the movie the essence it needed.I would recommend anyone, either smokers or non-smokers, to give 'smiley face' a try as it is just plain fun to watch and an awesome journey to wherever the wind blows.

I don't know what people think when vote this thing over 5, especially when they also sit and write special reviews about this garbage!First of all, the cinematography is just awful: You can't sit and watch close ups of Anna Faris' pot-face for 90 minutes even if it was funny. No landscape, no sets, no interest by the film-makers to make at least a try.Secondly, the stupidity of the character is that heavy even for a pot- head. I'm a regular smoker but this movie insults the whole pot- community! OK, smokers eat a lot, OK we freak out sometimes, OK we can make the easiest thing look like nuclear science but we don't enter random houses, we don't break the fire-alarms when we can simply burn out the fire, we don't run around for no reason at all, we don't try to sell weed in random people (especially if they look like Cruella Deville), we can communicate with people around us, can make serious conversations, can be consistent and so more. Law-makers must had someone like this character in their heads when they proclaimed weed illegal! Last but not least there isn't any plot in this movie. The motive of the character is a bed, seriously? There aren't any hilarious cues and the film-makers fail totally to make any of the film's scenes really funny.I've watch another pot-head movies like Pineapple Express or How High and this one takes a place at the bottom of my rankings.

Anna Faris really fits in this kind of role: a crazy girl. Smiley Face has some funny moments that and tells a story about a girl (Jane) who loves to get stoned. She lives for the drug and her lack of compromising with life is enviable.John Krasinski's character is boring and shouldn't be in this movie. It was only useful for more jokes coming from Jane, which were really funny along with the escaping scenes.Also it deserves a decent rating because of its originality. Come on dudes, it's hard to find a similar movie to this one nowadays. Sadly Faris' facial expressions were used so many times in her previous films and this doesn't add much for her as an actress.
