The greatest movie ever made..!

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

The film may be flawed, but its message is not.

It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

Most of the movie is very fun, entertaining and humorous, not really anything outstanding, but quite good. I've enjoyed it a lot. It's a nice little adventure of a family starting a business. It often gets me imagining what will happen next, and what would've happened if some things had gone differently. There are however a few things that I don't like about it. Note that this contains a spoiler. The main thing I don't like is the way that the big snowmobile race ends. It's quite a race, and is one of those races that you expect them to win. And they almost do, but unlike most movies like this, they don't quite win, in fact they never cross the finish line at all. It's easy to know why they did it this way, because if they had the prize money at the end, they never would've found out all that they owned. But there definitely could've been better ways of doing it. One possibility could've been to have them win, and find out afterwards that the prize money won't arrive until it's too late to use it. I think having the money stolen from them, or even getting disqualified would've been better than loosing the race entirely. I also don't like it that John's wife threatens to leave him if he does the race. But despite a few things that could've been better, it really is a good movie, with a happy ending.

Man this movie is funny. It's dated but that adds to the charm. The wall sized computer, inappropriate comments in the work place, $1,700 stretching a long way, and the killer station wagon. The story is pretty straight forward. A man, after inheriting a hotel, quits his sucky job, packs up his family and moves to a rural setting only to find out that the hotel is a dump. He and his family overcome several comical obstacles to prevail in the end. There is plenty of physical comedy and goofy humor. Its a good family comedy that answers questions like Why the strainer in the tub? Whats a Stanrubles plumbarmacy? and What to yell when your skiing out of control. I was lucky enough to find it on DVD at Wallmart for $10.

I am a 61 year old grandfather who is still a kid at heart. I still roar with laughter at the silly antics of the Roadrunner and Wiley Cayote. True, this movies is dated. All movies made in the 1970's are dated now, but this is such good clean fun that I would not hesitate to show this at a children's Sunday School class party. The "surprises" the family finds in unexpected places as they work to refurbish the hotel in time for the ski season; the fact that no one in the family skies; and the shenanigans they go through trying to get various jobs accomplished makes this movie a true comedy classic. In my opinion movie makers, in general, and Disney, in particular, have lost this sense of fun and it is a real shame. If you like this movie, I would also recommend "The Million Dollar Duck" and "Black Beard's Ghost" - also with Dean Jones - and also truly Disney Classics.

Yes, most movies in the 70's are very forgettable. In fact down right awful and dated (especially in contrast to many 30s 40s and 50s movies - and I was born in 76!). Snowball express may be one of them, a dated movie, if you are between 16-35 watching this by yourself, sober. If you have kids though, 5-15, they will find this great. Its humurous, outlandish, and campy. Cant give many details, I havent seen in in 6-9 years, but i thouroughly enjoyed it (not including the nostalgia) when I last saw it.
