Let's be realistic.

In other words, this film is a surreal ride.

Doomtomylo

a film so unique, intoxicating and bizarre that it not only demands another viewing, but is also forgivable as a satirical comedy where the jokes eventually take the back seat.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.

Ian Sparks (Chase Williamson) joins with mutants to avenge the death of his parents. He discovers that not everyone is honest in this age of vigilante super heroes. The complex plot takes some nice twists in this comic book adventure set in 1948.The film reminded me a little of the Warren Beatty "Dick Tracy" film. I would say if you couldn't stomach those sets, skip this one.Parental Guide: No f-bombs. No nudity. Sex scenes and prostitution theme.

There are lots of truly bad movies. This is one of them. It has no production values. It has terrible acting. It has a weak script. It was an obvious rush job made by incompetent filmmakers. It seems like they had heard about film noir , but had not ever actually seen anything from that genre. None of these things are a crime. The true evil comes from the lying scumbags who gave this movie good reviews. No sane person could actually recommend this as a good film. Only someone with a malicious desire to waste other people's time would try and convince anyone to watch Sparks. You stole 97 minutes from me.I believed you and you abused me in return.

This movie is a welcome addition to the superhero and film noir genres. The depth of characters and detailed plot lines leave the viewer satisfied yet wanting more. After an initial viewing, I immediately wanted to watch it again. There is much to take in and absorb which, to me, has always been the sign of a great film.Chase Williamson was spectacular as the brooding Ian Sparks. By the way, I think "Ian Sparks" is my favorite superhero moniker ever. It is so fun to watch brilliant actors such as Clancy Brown (Shawshank Redemption), Jake Busey (Starship Troopers), and the wonderful William Katt (Carrie). They help drive this film with their familiarity but also with new twists.Sparks is a graphic novel brought to life. It can be dark at times and continues in the tortured superhero realm. However, this film also has great humor and snappy dialogue that set it apart from other superhero movies. I definitely recommend this not only to fans of noir but to anyone who appreciates a fun, smart film.

I read somewhere that this was Watchmen meets Sin City. Yeah, sure, I see it (eye roll). Only those other two movies were well conceived, well written and well acted. In Sparks, the acting was sometimes painful, the plot nonsensical and uninspired, the dialog utterly cheesy and the choreography amateurish. I don't usually like to pan something without also saying something positive, no matter how small; however, with this movie, I am at a loss.Let's see...I'm sure they tried. There was a decent special effect. There was an actor I recognized. Umm, I saw cleavage?Seriously, I've got nothing. It seems that I was duped again. I don't usually write movie reviews (I figure that personal taste varies too wildly to bother), but if I can save just one person almost two hours of their life, it will have been worth it.
