One of my all time favorites.

Good start, but then it gets ruined

A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

Through painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable

I now realize what the previous "Stargate" movie was missing so much, Jack O'Neil! He was the most recognizable character from the series and I feel bad for not even remembering his name! Well, it has been literally years, probably more than a decade since I saw the actual show! This movie involves time travel and it's about as cool as it sounds. What I like is how everything isn't just resolved immediately. We actually get to see a year pass before the characters get everything back together. Okay, it's not a big part of the story, but it's quite nice. It's great to hear Jack's quips again. This movie is done quite realistically. It's not just the standard style of henchman being easy to kill. Well, that was at the end of the movie where they do whatever they want, but that's still fine. It felt more like a movie than a long episode of the TV show. I'm glad to see these characters again which makes me realize the brief fun I did have watching this show a long time ago. We get great music and everyone works quite hard to be relevant to the story. ***

I didn't go into watching this with any real expectations, like I did previously with The Arc of Truth. So once that was out of the way, I really liked this movie. The acting was a big step up, more like what the series was like. The jokes and lines that the main actors and the other actors delivered didn't fall flat. I was glad to see that, since I was so disappointed with that in the previous movie. It was a decent return to form. The cinematography was well shot and the soundtrack was pretty well done. Both of these things added to the overall feel of the movie. As for the plot, it was rather simple... but it was still good enough and kept me interested in watching the movie.I recommend this film over The Arc of Truth. It's worth the watch.

I remember seeing the original movie and being impressed. In its day it was a risky mix of genres plus the expected overwhelmed by the unexpected. Later I studied the industry and took this film apart in terms of how the concepts were managed. It worked and I know why. Later, the safe parts were made into a lame TeeVee show following the then already lame Star Trek formula. I did not know what to expect coming to this. The first two minutes are an extraordinary tracking shot that sets context, introduces the heroes and establishes the energy of thing. After that, I might as well have been watching William Shatner. In fact, I believe that they hired someone else to direct those first two minutes while a committee of writers was re- engineering the script. There was an opportunity here to do something clever with time travel paradoxes. What we got was Back to the Future" with spaceships and Arctic ice.Ted's Evaluation -- 1 of 3: You can find something better to do with this part of your life.

I found it completely entertaining. So much so that I will probably watch it again before the week is out! There was the "feel" of the show with the verbal interplay we have come to love from the characters, and with enough of the action and spectacle for a "big screen" feature. (Trying to keep the spoilers to a minimum) I loved the time travel angle, but most of all I loved seeing the team working together to solve the problem. The production company got some great assistance from our navy with the scenes near the beginning. I would love to see it in a theater!
