If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
View MoreThe movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
View MoreThe plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
View MoreAn old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
View MoreWhile this is a documentary about a band, the band itself is not the interesting part of it. By seeing the context the band grew out of, the feelings of the band members and the reactions of its fans, you get a glimpse of the post-colonial development of Greenland, and you get an idea as to what direction they are heading. Instead of making the documentary about the old sealhunter culture of Greenland, or the modern day problems they face, the documentary delves into the cultural expressions of the dissatisfied youth, and how those who spoke up touched the entire country. This is also interesting as a Greenlandic film in general. There aren't too many of this, but from watching this alone, you'd think there'd be a long tradition of filmmaking in the country. The filmmakers managed to dig up quite a bit of archival footage, some of it really fun to see if you've been to Nuuk. And interesting either way.
