The Worst Film Ever

Kamila Bell

This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

The summary says it all. Surf Ninjas was the first movie to have a video game developed based on the movie, characters and plot....However, it is interesting that so many talents were brought together to create a 'fun' kids movie; Leslie Nielsen, Rob Schneider, Kelly Hu, Neal Israel, Tone Loc, Keone Young, plus Ernie Reyes Jr. & Sr., being a significant boost to the movie careers of both Rob Schneider and Kelly Hu. ._._._._

Two California teenagers learn that they are actually heirs to a kingdom in some far away Asian country island however in order to claim their rightful place, they must battle an evil dictator and save their adopted dad in the process. Surf Ninjas is of course as bad as you would expect. I mean we are talking about a movie that is supposed to feature ninjitsu masters on surf-boards who ride to the rescue. What makes this movie so dire is its complete lack of freshness or ambition. This is an obscure, low grade 3 Ninjas rip off that lacks even the remote distinguished thread. As far as these things go, we look at the humor which is inoffensive but unfunny. Acting that isn't awful but uninspired and action sequences watered down for kids. I'm guessing kids into martial arts may like this but given the fact that most kids would rather watch Bruce Lee movies or even 3 Ninjas, Surf Ninjas is only for the kid who will sit through anything. Of course adults forced to watch, may spend the running time wishing they never had kids.1/2* out of 4-(Awful)

Heres the thing you need to remember, this movie was made around the time of the TMNT series and 3 Ninjas. If anything this movie is a parody of those movies. Casting Rob Schneider, who was on Saturday Night Live at the time, makes it pretty evident that they had no intentions of making this a serious kids ninja movie. If that doesn't do it for you, how about the casting of Leslie Neilson who no doubt, before this movie, had done a ton of comedy movies. I'm sure the people who casted this movie has to ask everyone if they wanted to be in it, and explain it was a parody, otherwise they would have used people who weren't comedians. As a parody, I'd definitely would give this a great score, cause I have viewed and loved Ninja Turtles and 3 Ninja's when I was a kid. However, if for some crazy reason they wanted to make this a serious movie. They did a awful job. But like I said it was a comedy.

This movie has everything anyone could ever want. Surfing, Ninjas, Leslie Nielsen the cyborg dictator, Rob Schneider the lovable idiot and Tone Loc's first fantastic appearance as an officer of the law (his second and most notable role was of course as Emilio in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective). The fact that the plot revolves around a magical Sega Gamegear is probably one of the most insanely brilliant creative decisions ever made. The fat guy repeatedly falling down the stairs is by far the funniest scene in the history of film. I'd like to thank whoever created Surf Ninjas for bringing joy into the lives of so many and I know its only a matter of time before I see the sequel or remake in a theater near me.
