It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
View MoreGreat example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

In 1976 Martin Scorsese made Taxi Driver which became a rage, In fact Mahesh Bhatt's SADAK too had elements similar from that film In 1977 Irshad made Taxi Taxie which is similar in premise but differs overall. The film has Amol Palekar play a taxi driver who tries to search his own love of college and also to run away from his problem he tries to share his problems with other passengers. The film also has a prostitute who keeps meeting him, he meets a girl who wants to be a playback singer and also helps another prostitute Aruna Irani to hide her true image from her brother. The film is well handled with light moments, emotions all though a bit slow paced at times and predictable yet it works Music is good Amol Palekar is the only actor who could play the part so naturally and he is superb, Reena Roy has a brief role and she is good Zaheera is good as Jyothi, Rama Vij is good, Aruna Irani is good in a cameo, Lalita Pawar is as usual, Tun Tun, Dinesh Hingoo have cameos rest are okay
View MoreOne thing to be praised about the movie is its simplicity. A harsh city, a kind hearted taxi driver. It is a depiction of events in the life of a person (who becomes a taxi driver), who came to the harsh city of Bombay in search of his love. He lives with a hope to find her. During this time there are series of events of which he becomes a part, telling about the different gray shades of life. He meets a girl who ran away from her house seeking for a bright career in singing. He helps the girl in becoming a singer. The movie is missing the package gloss that hollywood movies have. It is not technically well made but the flair is still very much there. The opening song "taxi taxi" is nice and peppy to listen. In all an honest theme.
