I think this is a new genre that they're all sort of working their way through it and haven't got all the kinks worked out yet but it's a genre that works for me.
View MoreVery very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
View MoreBrilliant and touching
Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
View Morethis film was written by Simon Moore and produced by Robert Halmi. The movie starts out in modern-day New York, following a girl named Virginia and her father, Anthony. Then in a different realm where Cinderella, Snow White, and Little Red Ridding Hood were once rulers of the land. Prince Wendell, the grandson of Snow White Gets turned into a golden retriever by his step mother, the evil queen. When the evil queen sends trolls after him to kill him, he finds a way to escape by running through a magic mirror. This is when he runs in to Virginia and their journey begins. One of my favorite characters is Wolf. I like him because he is relatable. because people judge him by his appearance because he has a tail and then they run away. And assume that he is always to blame. This is relatable because it is very easy to del like an outcast and that everything is your fault some times. This film is very unique because it gives a good twist on classic fairy tales. one of my favorite clips from the movie is when Virginia is try to win a competition by singing we will rock you in a lame remix( have to watch the movie to find out what that means). this movie was very emotional movie to me because you go on an emotional roller coaster , sometimes your happy , sad and laughing.
View MoreEvery time I see this movie I like it even more than the last time. This is an exceptionally long movie at about 10 hours, but it was a mini series to begin with. Unfortunately I missed it in it's run, never even heard of it.I was snooping around the videos in a local store and came across this little gem. It's a great story supported by some excellent acting. The production values are just about the best I've even seen for any made-for-TV material. The entire idea of the movie, regarding what had happened to all the fairy tale people after a couple of hundred years, is captivating itself. However, the cast they put together fit the rolls perfectly. The trolls are particularly funny and well done. The huntsman actually gave me the chills.People who like fantasy and fairy tales will absolutely love this movie. If you go to all the last reviews here you will find the opinions of people who are not fantasy fans. You know, the ones with no imagination and who couldn't suspend their disbelief even if they were paid to do so. These people will never see a good fantasy for what it is, and will never get any enjoyment out of them. This leaves me to wonder, if they don't like these types of stories, why do they keep watching them? If you enjoy the genera then by all means pick this up if you see it. Just be ready for either a LLLOOONNNGGG bout of watching a LLLOOONNNGGG movie, or try and cut it up into manageable pieces. The toughest thing will be trying to stop it somewhere. Good luck with that decision.
View MoreI watched the first show in this series and I found it to be terrible. I enjoy fantasy (e.g., stardust), but this was just idiotic. The acting was amateurish and way overdone, the special effects quite cheesy, and the costumes like something from a bad dream. The plot was also inane, but that is not unusual for a fantasy. I suppose this might have been targeted at children, but I doubt that this even comes up to the standards of a kids TV show. Also, this does not seem appropriate for younger children (violence), so I can't see why this movie exists at all.The characters were incredibly annoying, and made watching this a masochistic exercise. To me, this looked like a very poor TV show, which is what I guess it was. I would strongly advise that you not waste your time with this one.
View MoreI started to watch The 10th Kingdom on DVD at a friends suggestion. I suffered through the first disc in agony. This movie is chock full of way-over-the-top "acting" from maddeningly obnoxious, screeching trolls to a hyperactive hyper-loud wolf. The one actor who did not play her role in this over-the-top fashion was Dianne Weist as The Evil Queen. Instead she phoned in her dull, lifeless performance and was utterly boring. I cannot stress enough what a piece of crap this mini-series is and, unless you like unpleasant frantic fairy tales that go on for hours and hours, I would avoid this made for television mess of a movie at all costs.
