It's not great by any means, but it's a pretty good movie that didn't leave me filled with regret for investing time in it.
View MoreIt’s an especially fun movie from a director and cast who are clearly having a good time allowing themselves to let loose.
View MoreFanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.
View MoreA story that's too fascinating to pass by...
I bought this movie online because it was written and directed by Michael McDonald of "Mad TV" fame. It also has Ed Begley Jr. and Phil Hartman. The DVD case makes a big deal about being "family entertainment", but this movie is certainly questionable as a kid's movie. As a comedy there are lots of amusing things going on with a great supporting cast trying to move things forward. Sadly like most mainstream comedies, the story starts to run out of comedic bits to put it in the "must see" category. It is a great addition to any collector's library as a curiosity piece, but ultimately not a great choice if you are looking for a great comedy rental
View MoreThe Crazysitter in my opinion is by far one of the best comedy films of all time. The acting and humor are equally good in the same way! Phil Hartman and Tim Bagley had hilarious cameo appearances and Beverly D'Angelo made several funnies throughout the film. The doctor at the end is pretty fun to watch too!Plot: Two bratty children Jason and Bea are causing lots of trouble around their lavish home. Their rich and somewhat troubled parents are forced to place a new ad for a nanny for them after they drive their old nanny to insanity. During this time their father gets a business call and has to report to France with their mother. The only person to watch their kids for them is an filthy ex-con with a drinking problem who was so goofy and crude she got thrown out of prison named Edie. Without knowing any of this, they hire Edie as a new nanny mostly because the kids liked her. That same day, Edie watches a twisted talk show which is covering the topic of selling children. She automatically gets the idea to sell Jason and Bea after finding out that they are worth thousands of dollars! She seeks help from her still incarcerated and sleazy friend. After the kids blow a hole in a wall with a shotgun, vomit on an expensive couch and kill a monkey, everybody is afraid to buy them. So Edie is stuck with Jason and Bea and begins to build a bond with them. At the end when their parents come home, they are impressed with Edie'services and let her continue working for them.Don't be afraid to rent this movie or buy if you can find it, trust it's worth your time and money. Laughter is waiting for you!
View MoreThis could have been a really good movie if someone would just have known how to finish the film. The story was going along just fine and heading towards that point in every movie like this where the "gray" characters turn "good" and the "bad" guys get their just desserts and *boom* ... it's like they ran out of script and the cast just started to make things up.Which wouldn't have been so bad ... if the cast had just continued with the character development they had already put in place. But such is not the case and the movie soon becomes a goofy mess.My advice is to watch this movie up to about the last 30 minutes ... and then shut it off. At this point, imagine how you think the next 30 minutes will look based on what you have seen so far.Believe me, the ending you come up with will look far better than how this film actually ends. Trust me on this.
View MoreLook, this film is terrible... the "plot" involves twins who are neglected by their self-absorbed parents, and left in the care of a succession of nannies and babysitters, all of whom the children drive away by being completely obnoxious. Eventually the kids engineer ex-convict Beverly D'Angelo to be their new nanny, do you care why? And D'Angelo watches a TV talk show about selling children and decides she will try to sell the twins... and, well, oh, you don't want to know. It's all very unpleasant, and not at all funny. In fact the announcer slated this film before it came on the TV channel I was watching! Just don't bother wasting a single moment of your life on this pile of complete trash, y'hear?
