I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.
View MoreEasily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.
View MoreOne of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.
View MoreThrough painfully honest and emotional moments, the movie becomes irresistibly relatable
View MoreA bored young man, with a desire to travel, finds a device, and it will change his life.Yes, that is all that can be said without giving anything away. The running time is only 3 and a half minutes, and yet a lot is done with that little. Sure, the plot can be explained very briefly, but that's also because this doesn't overstay its welcome - and with there not being much story, focus can remain on communicating what there is of it.This applies the principle of "show, don't tell", and spares us exposition. We see how the titular device works, what our protagonist is like, and how the events unfold. It's not terribly complex, albeit using a concept that is.The production value is adequate. Best is the competent camera-work and editing. The special effects, the one prop, and the acting are honestly only passable, but that's all they really need to be. They don't ruin this - it was always about the idea and the use of the visual medium of film to convey it.I recommend this to any fan of sci-fi. 7/10
