SERIOUSLY. This is what the crap Hollywood still puts out?

A film of deceptively outspoken contemporary relevance, this is cinema at its most alert, alarming and alive.

The movie really just wants to entertain people.

Darin

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

OK, this is starting to get upsetting. My name is Gabriela Marinescu. I was the STAR in this film. My name has never appeared in the cast. My partner and supporting actor was Sorin Butan. He is not listed either. My other film was Vara Romantica (1961) which also does not include my name. Please let's change this. Since I moved to the United States I have only appeared once on television -- Amerika, the mini-series with Chris Kristoferson, under my married name, Gabriela Moscu. I escaped Romania in 1972 defecting to Italy at the final performance of the International Children's Theater Festival. The Romanian government has done its best to erase my name from the public records because of this. However, IMDb is not located in communist Romania. That is why we have the ability to write history as it happened, not as would be propagandized by communist governments or any other governments. This is a public website that should be committed to information, and if anyone wants to dispute this information, go ahead and try. I urge you to post this information update unless you can find evidence to the contrary. You must understand that information in communist Romania was very strictly controlled by the government so it is not easy to search on the internet for my name. You must consult real world sources. You will find that anyone involved with this film knows very well that Gabriela Marinescu was very well known. The director, Andrei Blaier, is still alive and active in the Romanian film industry. Niki Scarlat, director of the National Theatre in Bucharest, Romania is another source you can consult. Anyone involved with the National Theatre in that time would know who Gabriela Marinescu was, and knew about this film, Prima Melodie. This film was banned after my defection. THAT is why there is a paucity of information on it. In these times we are spoiled because there is a free flow of information and people do not have to consult real world sources. Please understand what communism in Romania did to information. It cannot be overemphasized. I will be checking back because it is very important to me. Thank you.
