When he is suspended from his university job for his outlandish ideas, Professor John Venkenheim leads a documentary film crew to the rim of the Arctic Circle in a desperate effort to vindicate his academic reputation. His theory: Mary Shelley's ghastly story, "Frankenstein," is, in fact, a work of non-fiction disguised as fantasy. In the vast, frozen wilderness, Venkenheim and his team search for the legendary monster, a creature mired in mystery and drenched in blood. What they find is an unspeakable truth more terrifying than any fiction...a nightmare from which there is no waking.

It's an amazing and heartbreaking story.

Exactly the movie you think it is, but not the movie you want it to be.

Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.

I laughed when 'Frankenstein's monster' finally made its appearance. I also vomited several times due to the shaky camera, which is conveniently pointing away from the monster most of the time, I guess because they didn't want to show the lame monster before the very end. I can't believe they decided to show it, considering it was so unimpressive and silly. The film fails to generate real tension, it suffers from the common problem with found footage, which is characters that bicker constantly, and it also fails to generate likable characters. We don't like any of them, and we don't even hate any of them. When they start to drop like flies, it makes no difference to us. Of course, Found footage does function largely as a kind of simulation of events, which means that you are not meant to care about protagonists, and instead enjoy the ride, being 'one of the crew'. Still, the film should not leave you totally indifferent, and this film never made me care. Also, as a simulation it is quite unimpressive. Many opportunities to make it really scary and suspenseful were lost, and there is too much padding. Two lousy stars.

worse than lair witch project! THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT was done by high schoolers.. and the stupid movie was written by a dreamer! its good to 'dream' about stuff, but if u're putting it on the big screen, please put it in prospective. coz you've just wasted ur money on the cheap script, crap actors and really wasted a trip to the arctic. Frankenstein, being a fictional character that has been fascinating to the audiences for over the century, i really think he deserves more credits that you have given him. luckily, i found this in my local library... i don't think this movie even made it to the big screen in NZ. really not worth paying for it. I wonder how much were made at the box office?

Good idea runs out of steam. This builds really well, until the mad scientist states his motive: to make his dream real. The rest of the team should have done the same, and then we could figure out the characters and enjoy the story. But they didn't, and after that the annoying clowns take over. Karl is interesting, but he gets wasted cheaply, and then it's just wheezing scares in the half light. And they didn't even pick up the rifle. Pfff. The landscape is amazing. The creature not - looks like arthritis in the knees, and the idea of him being capable of reason isn't given a chance.Another case of found-footage focusing too much on the camera man.

Watched this hoping it could possibly be a hidden gem but after 30 minutes in I was bored despite this I watched anyway You see the creature for about 30-45 secs in total throughout the film if anything I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy and it is that bad it almost feels like a p**s take of the Frankenstein legend. No one in this film recognisable and poor storyline and acting I feel sorry for anyone that has actually paid for this The creature itself that you do eventually get a glimpse of looks more like Bigfoot than the Frankenstein monster we know in today's legend Frankenstein himself would wish for death seeing this
