It's easily one of the freshest, sharpest and most enjoyable films of this year.

A woman suffering from amnesia begins to recover her memories after trouble from her past finds her again. The Long Kiss Goodnight is the perfect example of how critics are wrong on reviewing action movies since this is one of the most underrated ones for sure. First of all the action is terrific, Geena Davis gives a hell of a perfomance as Samantha and Samuel L. Jackson is great as always and even tho it might have a close resemblance to Die Hard or Lethal Weapon it deserves to be on that damn list next to those movies and as for Harlin himself? He has made some terrible films i'll agree on that but films like Die Hard 2: Die Harder, Cliffhanger and The Long Kiss Goodnight deserve another fair watch especially for action movie fans around the globe. (A+)

Let me start by saying what a fun action movie this is, Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson are awesome together this was a total thrill ride from beginning to end.Geena Davis plays Samantha Cain a school teacher ( possibly junior high school or elementary school) who discovers she is a lethal assassin and that her former employers now want her dead. She teams up with wise-cracking detective Mitch Hennessy played by Samuel L. Jackson who she needs to help her uncover her past.I own this on VHS and now my mom recently found on DVD, so now I own both which is awesome. This movie just flat out rocks, I love it. The action scenes are very good the one liners are funny and the story all though standard is quite fresh.Overall, a great film and a great cast of memorable characters and of course it's fun from start to finish.I give it a 7/10. Pure fun and excitement. Highly recommended.

The great thing about Shane Black (of "Lethal Weapon" fame) is that he makes action movies work by doing things that look really obvious on the surface. It makes sense that you have the audience care for the characters before you put them in mortal danger, but how many action movies actually bother to do that? You don't even need a long build-up or anything. There are just these quick moments here, subtle touches, some funny lines that make us like Geena Davis' character right from the start. Once you realise her wholesome family life is nothing more than a cover for a professional killer, you genuinely feel bad, even though you've only seen a couple of scenes. That's great writing. Geena Davis is kind of an unlikely action star, but she does fine and Samuel L. Jackson (who can take more abuse than RoboCop in this movie) is a great comic relief. "The Last Kiss Goodnight" was a complete dud at the box office, but thankfully it's gained a cult following once it hit the video shelves.

complete nonsense done with great style and excess. better than 'bourne' because it has humour and the story isn't banal. edges 'diehard 3' (forget the rest of that series) because it has two unusual heroes and one of them is a women (yes I know that SJ is in both). good story (although silly at end - Hollywood) with very good script and very good leads. bad guys are bad, the in-betweeners don't last long and the good guys are both good and bad. if only they could make nonsense with such humour and style these days.......... perhaps even once every five years. if only (again) the 'has been' and 'want to be' genre movies could achieve this level of proficiency and entertainment. always a favourite and way beyond the average rating in IMDb. don't believe the nay sayers, particularly the professional media who don't rate it. they clearly do not understand the genre nor are they interested in watching this kind of stuff - they have to! go watch it!
