Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.

I wanted to like it more than I actually did... But much of the humor totally escaped me and I walked out only mildly impressed.

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

Samuel L. Jackson stars as ATF agent Derrick Vann - a streetwise, Detroit-based, tough guy cop who doesn't trust anyone. A mastermind criminal has stolen a large amount of guns and other firepower from the ATF, and Vann's partner was killed in the process because he was probably in on it. Now, Vann has Internal Affairs breathing down his neck and accusing him of being an accessory, so he sets out to catch the thieves and retrieve the guns to clear his name. Vann establishes a sting operation to catch the thieves, but something goes awry. Along the way, we meet the character of Eugene Levy, playing a role very familiar to his character in the American Pie series. The main problem with the film is that it isn't funny enough for a comedy and doesn't offer enough action for a typical buddy cop film. The chemistry between both leads isn't there (even if that's the point) and it becomes tiresome quickly. The film is also nothing quite original or something in which has not happened before. A positive in which has been mentioned is its quick running time of 83 minutes, which also shows that the director and writers really didn't have much to do here.

This was a very diligent movie. There are characters and a plot, but the production overrun. I think people going to movies should have a good idea of what expected/ Way to go Mayfield Les, this is a movie.let's face it this movie is "different" from all the Hollywood schlock, there is something there...elln page has a dog named pesatchio and god good actors after shocking madness.when eugene levy wiggles his eyebrows it makes it funny and funnier than American pies.Rating: if you liked Riding the bus with my sister and Wild Strawberries, you'll like this one.

as the title of this post says, the section above that says 'the plot synopsis is empty' basically covers it. and inasmuch as the section above that says 'the plot synopsis is empty' basically covers it, it seems absurd to need ten whole lines of text just to be able to convey the only necessary information, that the section above that says 'the plot synopsis is empty' basically covers it. nonetheless these are the rules, like the rules of brainless boardroom production writers who come up with this kind of empty, synopsis-less drivel. it's fair to say the section above that says 'the plot synopsis is empty' basically covers it, so i will: the section above that says 'the plot synopsis is empty' basically covers it. pardon the spoiler.

The Man (2005, Les Mayfield) A federal agent turns up dead and an hardcore undercover agent, known as Derrick Vann heads off to try and recover the stolen arms and find the killers. Andy Fiddler is an ordinary family man and a dentist, and is out heading to a conference, when he gets stuck in the same mess. Criminal Kane believes Fiddler is 'The Man' behind it all and offers him a gun. Vann spots him and drags him across town, with him posing as the actual 'Man'.When you first look at this film, you see an odd pairing. Eugune Levy is often a comedic actor and Samuel L. Jackson is more of a serious, hard-hitting actor. It was a risky move to make. The actors aren't the problem, as they both fit together very well. The problem is the script. It just isn't very funny. The jokes are very few, and rely more on sight gags. The story was OK, just for a comedy film, it was very disappointing. I gave it a 6, only because i enjoyed it, but then you would say that when you a fan of both Jackson and Levy.F***...Crying Out Loud - Andy Fidler (Eugene Levy)
