This movie was so-so. It had it's moments, but wasn't the greatest.

i like this documentary.I never knew there was a underground group of cannibals. The film was interested and caught my attention right away. They do a great job of giving the back story on the two men.One man wants to be eaten, and another wants to eat someone, they meat up and do this deed.apparently the man filmed the the whole thing but thankfully you don't see any of it.This was a daring subject to cover,I'm glad they did tho because it was interesting for sure. The movie shows the progression of the cannibal and how he tries to find a willing person for a while.the prosecution deals with the fact that the victim was willing and wanting to be eaten, which is an odd situation.over all a pretty good film.

For anyone that enjoyed or was interested with Marian Dora's Cannibal, this is a pretty eye-opening and intriguing look into the lives and relationship of the two men Armin Meiwes and Bernd Brandes. This documentary basically gives us a simple and moderately brief history of the two men's lives up to the point where they met one another. With a stronger focus on Armin (the eater), you're shown facts about his life that are sad but at the same time thought-provoking. From his daily life being strongly supported by his mother, to his stints in the military, his hobby as a sailor, to his childhood fascination of eating other kids.Brandes, is another odd story altogether. With focus on co-workers/friends giving their accounts on both men, their retelling of Brandes last days were of him becoming "negative" in ways. Recreating himself by working out vigorously and shaving his head. He was becoming a person he never was, in his desperate goal to Armin. The two incredibly unique personalities do eventually meet, and as you know, these men were involved in one of the most bizarre cases you would ever hear. Armin, from posting on a cannibal chat room found Brandes. The two met and from there, on one evening, Brandes gave himself to Armin. Completely. In the film Cannibal, you're led to believe that the two men became lovers. It was a very good film, that gave strong believable performances, but truth be told, the men never truly felt love for one another. They both had bizarre fetishes that worked with one another. It's quite obvious they weren't lovers, from the fact that while Brandes was bleeding to death in the tub, Armin was downstairs reading a book. Which was not in the movie, Cannibal. There are many fascinating points to this documentary that will shed a decent amount of light on the two men and their brief but legendary encounter. The Man Who Ate His Lover is somewhat of an erroneous title since they never said they actually made love, though they were naked drinking coffee together....nevertheless, the title works. With lots of interviews from people who knew them, to professionals who researched the case and subjects revolving around cannibalism etc., the film delivers a satisfying ending piece to one of the weirdest sexual encounters I've ever heard about. Well, it may not be an ending piece, because Armin was only sent to prison for 8 years. See ya in the chat rooms!
