Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.

View MoreThe biggest problem with this movie is it’s a little better than you think it might be, which somehow makes it worse. As in, it takes itself a bit too seriously, which makes most of the movie feel kind of dull.
View MoreGreat movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.
View MoreFive friends break into a closed corn maze in the middle of the night and decide to play a harmless game of tag. Little do they know that a psychopathic killer has decided to play along. As they wander aimlessly through the maze the murderer follows closely behind, taunting them and watching their every move. The game turns deadly when the kids decide to separate and weaken their chances of survival. When the mutilated body of the maze owner is found they realize that something is terribly wrong. As they race to find the entrance of the maze, the murderer cleverly forces them to follow the path that he wants. Manipulating everyone to his vicious will, the killer taunts his victims and leads them further into the depths of the maze. After succumbing to hours of torture will anyone make it out of the maze...alive? Will you care? I didn't. The movie is unbearably slow. And so dark you can barely make out what is happening on your screen.
View MoreEven by the standards of no-budget direct-to-DVD fare, this is pretty bad. I can live with the amateurish lighting and questionable acting, such are the pitfalls of limited finances, but creativity and originality don't cost a penny and 'The Maze' is sorely lacking in both. The entire blame for this fiasco can be laid at the feet of the two writers who don't so much craft a screenplay as string together a series of loosely connected genre clichés. We're used to our horror characters behaving stupidly, but few are as stupid as those depicted here. Grown adults playing tag in a corn field in the middle of the night? Really? Grown adults who don't seem to realize that corn rows do not constitute an impenetrable barrier? And shouldn't the psycho killer be just a little bit scary? Or at least intimidating? Not a skinny kid who could, in reality, be immobilized by a girl scout with her hands tied? And why so squeamish about blood and violence? Sheesh. Not even bad-in-a-good-way. Just plain bad.
View MoreI'm a huge fan of low budge horrors and found this one didn't disappoint. It's been a while since I have seen a horror film take place in a corn maze (probably due to logistical problems with the story as some have mentioned. One would think you could just run in any single direction and eventually be out but that is beside the point). For being a low budget film I really enjoyed the music. Thats the one thing that seemed superior to other horror movies with low budgets. Most everything else was on par with what I expected. If you like low budget horrors then you won't be disappointed. If you have issues with low budget films then you probably wont enjoy this film (as you can see from some of the other reviews). Overall I would probably give it a 4.5 to 5 except that I enjoyed the music so much that it bumped it up to a 6.
View MoreAfter reading the reviews I found myself wanting to see the movie. Not because of all the great reviews but because of all the bad reviews. I find it funny how many people see a film like this and the critique it as if it was a Hollywood studio that made the film. And to all the people that claim they could make a better movie with their camera phone then why don't you do it? You could be making but loads of money by making a better film than this on your camera phone! Realistically, I guess the reason you don't is because you can't. You are one of those wannabe filmmakers that would never make it in the tough industry and so you settle on tearing other peoples work apart. Don't take revenge on the people who are actually living their dreams just because you couldn't even if you wanted to.That being said, this movie was not perfect. The pacing was at times quite slow. The death scenes could have used more work, the actors were not top notch A list actors, etc... Of course this can be expected. It is a very low budget horror movie. If people don't want to see these types of elements that exist in low budget horror movies than go see the Hollywood multi million dollar films. Congratulation to the makers of this film. Overall it was a decent horror flick and I wouldn't hesitate to watch the next thing you put out.
