An ancient urn is found in a cemetery outside Rome. Once opened, it triggers a series of violent incidents: robberies, rapes and murders increase dramatically, while several mysterious, evil-looking young women coming from all over the world are gathering in the city. All these events are caused by the return of Mater Lacrimarum, the last of three powerful witches who have been spreading terror and death for centuries. Alone against an army of psychos and demons, Sarah Mandy, an art student who seems to have supernatural abilities of her own, is the only person left to prevent the Mother of Tears from destroying Rome.

A bit overrated, but still an amazing film

Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

It’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

First of all, I watched the previous two movies and was really surprised at the brilliance of how they are made, they were made so tastefully and the buildup towards the end was perfectly timed. But this? After watching the first two, and coming to this in a trilogy-marathon... I must say I almost regret turning this on. Sure, it may be the best movie ever for some, with prostitute witches and stuff. Its so bad its almost sad.The buildup on this movie? It starts fine, you expect something awesome, you watch almost through the whole movie without much happening except "what is going on?!" and "im being chased", then suddenly in the last 5 minutes it all happens at once, run to the house, going to the catacombs, ripping the prostitutes shirt off with a spear (which is very logical too... obviously the spear wouldn't cut through the shirts back, right?).Throughout the movie its being said "kill the witch" again and again, no one ever said "kill the shirt", yet in that final scene, HOW did she know that burning the shirt will actually kill the witch??Again, after watching the first two directly before this, I really expected better.

I am not the biggest Dario Argento film fan, my favourites of his are Tenabrae, Suspiria, and Opera. " Mother Of Tears" is the third chapter in his " Three Mother" films the other two being " Suspiria" and " Inferno" which i didn't like much. Mother Of Tears" has a bad reputation and quite simply it deserves it.An incoherent, amateur and often pathetic mess of a film with awful, embarrassing acting from everyone. A couple of moments work, the gore though just looks fake, film's effect is just a wide sheet of flatness, and that ending??? Easily the least of the series, and people moan how bad his later " Dracula " was, it is a masterpiece compared to this.A really too generous fair rating.

All that horror Argento has been eating over the years has come out without the use of any laxative. And it sure does STEENK!!! After watching Suspiria (The Mother Of Sighs), and Inferno (The Mother of Darkness), you'd think Argento would give us his best for last. No unfortunately it is the SH*T-END of Argento's stick(possibly after scr*wing ASIA in the A*S).There is zero suspense in the film. In the gore department, the film goes overboard. There is more profanity is this film than the other two.Plot: An ancient urn is found in a cemetery outside Rome. Ugh, the long awaited ending to one of the most gruesome and interesting trilogies in Horror cinema ends in very poor fashion.Argento applies the miseries of modern Horror such as terrible CGI, lousy characters, display of awful tendencies, and more. The Daria Niccolodi ghost reminded me of "Troll 2". Go figure. The dark-emo Asian girls were also horrible..But plot wise, "La Terza Madre" fails on every aspect. The story isn't well explained, there's no coherence in some events and everything gets solved ridiculously. Asia Argento is the best feature about it. But she needs to change her laugh!Nothing was left from "Suspiria" or "Inferno". This movie just reminds us that Dario has been past his best days. Sure, there are moments that keep faithful to the master such as violent and nasty death sequences (the lesbians torture was raw), a not so bad score, and beautiful colors.P.S. What was the problem with that monkey?!
