Just perfect...

disgusting, overrated, pointless

It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.

The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.

A few days ago, when I watched the movie I had very low expectations in the beginning. And do not get me wrong, this movie certainly is not a timeless masterpiece. The storyline is pretty similar to its prequel but I am going to try and ignore that fact. There are some interesting plot twists in the storyline but if you are used to watching action thrillers, you might actually find them pretty predictable. The acting isn't actually all that bad, and the location of the shooting being Istanbul in Turkey, the scenes are rather interesting to watch. The direction and picture quality was mediocre at best, but the plot being well paced, makes us ignore these limitations to a certain extent. I would like to avoid giving away any sort of spoilers for those who have not yet watched the film yet but it would suffice to say that if computers aren't really your thing, you might as well avoid this film. And to come to the point of the cast, I certainly welcome the decision to add some Turkish actors in the mix. In my honest opinion, they did help to add some much needed freshness to this otherwise rather placid film.All in all, this movie might not be in the same level as the matrix films (maybe not even close) but if you watch the film having low expectations in mind, I can guarantee that you will not get bored.

I've seen better movies on Lifetime. You'd think that shooting in a location like Turkey would add a great deal to the production value, but it seems that the director really didn't embrace the setting at all. There are so many opportunities with a country such as Turkey to shoot in. This is a place that doesn't show up very often on the intellectual radar of most Americans. Why not add to the mystique of the film? This could have been shot in Los Angeles with the same effect. Huge waste. Oh, the dialogue was bad, the acting was mediocre, the characters were flat, the story was predictable and the cinematography was pedestrian. This is the kind of thing you leave on for your dog when he's at home alone, so he doesn't feel lonely.Or if you want to torture the cat with bad filmmaking.

The Net 2.0 has a weak plot and any twists are explained in short conversations. The movie is mostly a set of chase scenes. The best parts are where they show the city of Istanbul, Turkey. I have never seen such good photography of this major city. There are street details of Turkey that enlighten me, since I never went to Turkey. There are aerial pictures of Istanbul that feature giant domed buildings, minarets, and other architectural beauties. The Turkish actors seem authentic. I loved the views of the big, beautiful city and the Bosporus. It looks exotic and dreamy compared to my home in California.The title was what attracted me to rent this DVD. As a computer engineer, I like to see movies that show advanced techniques for hacking computers. The star in the film gets paid $435 per hour to enhance computer security of a big Turkish company. There are nightmarish features to the film where passports and identity papers are missing. Like in my dreams, the star cannot clean up the passport mess. The action moves on before any accomplishments are achieved.

The conclusion is simple, watch this promo film for Turkey with a slight story, and all clichés will pass one by one.The chases are not state of the art. A small car chase with no surprises, some running, some more running.The flash backs and flash forwards started to annoy me, just as the characters and their roles which weren't a surprise at the end.Sandra Bullock's trailer was on the DVD as well, and I have to say: watch the Net trailer for even more action and entertainment.Not too bad for a B-movie, don't expect anything new or refreshing. IT people like myself will of course see through the technical terms, but who'll watch for that purpose ;)
