Best movie of this year hands down!
One of the worst ways to make a cult movie is to set out to make a cult movie.
View MoreOne of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
View MoreAn old-fashioned movie made with new-fashioned finesse.
View MoreI recently saw this at the 2007 Palm Springs Festival of Short Films and it's a very nice stop motion animation short from Finland. Möbleeraaja is a story about a couple who move into a new apartment and the practical and organized husband has the layout of the furnishings planned and sketched out on his notepad on how the apartment will look. His plan is constantly being interrupted by his wife who can't leave well enough alone and has become obsessive in rearranging the furniture. Writer/director/photographer/animator/editor Laura Neuvonen practically does it all here with the help of her fellow animators Pauli Laasonen and Kai Lappalainen from Anima Vitae animation studio in Helsinki. Also from Anima Vitae is Janne Jankeri, Salla Hämäläinen and Heikki Kossi on sound and music from Christor Nuutinen. Neuvonen's previous short, also from Anima Vitae, dealt with obsessive behavior as well in the seven minute short The Last Knit. Last Knit was a popular film festival favorite around the world and when it ended up on the popular internet site Youtube it received 900,000 views in it's first couple of months. Möbleeraaja has no dialog and is titled in English as The Next Move. I would give this a 7.5 out of 10.
