The greatest movie ever made..!

Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
View MoreExcellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
View MoreIn the midst of his crumbling relationship, a radio show host begins speaking to his biggest fan, a young boy, via the telephone. But when questions about the boy's identity come up, the host's life is thrown into chaos. The late Robin Williams was a fantastic and incredible actor but 'The Night Listener' gives him little to do and offers even more little to it's viewers and despite a great Cast the film is super slow and the story wasn't that interesting either. Overall a big disappointment. (0/10)
View MoreGabriel No one (Robin Williams) is a late night talk radio DJ in NYC. His partner Jess (Bobby Cannavale) leaves him. He is given a memoir written by Pete Logand (Rory Culkin) about his sexual abuses who has AIDS and adopted by social worker Donna Logand (Toni Collette). As he grows closer to Pete and Donna over the phone, he starts to wonder whether the two voices are actually the same person. He uses the return address to track them down but what he finds raises even more questions. It has an interesting premise with a moody atmosphere. However it doesn't have any drama. There is no danger for Gabriel. The mystery is slightly interesting but in the end, it's meaningless without tension. It's like a slightly spooky story told by a radio DJ in a darken studio that isn't actually scary.
View MoreThe night Listener has a very unique story. When Gabriel No one is given a book by his friend. His friend is considering publishing the book Despite the fact nothing in the book has been proved. The Book details the life of a boy named Peter Logand. Peter describes a life of horrible sexual abuse by his parents .In the End Peter Escapes but not after getting AIDS. He is now living with Donna is adopted mother and former social worker. After Gabriel reads the book. Peter calls him and they begin a friendship. The Friendship fixes a large hole in Gabriel's life as his longtime boyfriend has recently left him. As Gabriel gets to know Peter and Donna . Questions rise up about the validity of the claims made by them. Also the validity of Peter does the Boy exist or not ? Gabriel is drawn into a mystery in which everything he knows will be questioned. And his life will be placed in very real danger. In the end Gabriel comes no closer to the truth . Robin Williams does a very fine job here. His Gabriel is sympathetic and a crusader. If a child was in danger he wants to help. His life is falling apart and Williams reflects that. Toni Collete does outstanding work here as Donna Logand the woman with something to hide. This movie is hers and Williams. And they give us a treat.
View MoreIn this "critically acclaimed psychological thriller based on true events, Gabriel (Robin Williams), a celebrated writer and late-night talk show host, becomes captivated by the harrowing story of a young listener and his adoptive mother (Toni Collette). When troubling questions arise about this boy's (story), however, Gabriel finds himself drawn into a widening mystery that hides a deadly secret " according to film's official synopsis. You really should STOP reading these comments, and watch the film NOW...The "How did he lose his leg?" ending, with Ms. Collette planning her new life, should be chopped off, and sent to "deleted scenes" land. It's overkill. The true nature of her physical and mental ailments should be obvious, by the time Mr. Williams returns to New York. Possibly, her blindness could be in question - but a revelation could have be made certain in either the "highway" or "video tape" scenes. The film would benefit from a re-editing - how about a "director's cut"? Williams and Bobby Cannavale (as Jess) don't seem, initially, believable as a couple. A scene or two establishing their relationship might have helped set the stage. Otherwise, the cast is exemplary. Williams offers an exceptionally strong characterization, and not a "gay impersonation". Sandra Oh (as Anna), Joe Morton (as Ashe), and Rory Culkin (Pete Logand) are all perfect.Best of all, Collette's "Donna" belongs in the creepy hall of fame. Ms. Oh is correct in saying Collette might be, "you know, like that guy from 'Psycho'." There have been several years when organizations giving acting awards seemed to reach for women, due to a slighter dispersion of roles; certainly, they could have noticed Collette with some award consideration. She is that good. And, director Patrick Stettner definitely evokes Hitchcock - he even makes getting a sandwich from a vending machine suspenseful. Finally, writers Stettner, Armistead Maupin, and Terry Anderson deserve gratitude from flight attendants everywhere.******* The Night Listener (1/21/06) Patrick Stettner ~ Robin Williams, Toni Collette, Sandra Oh, Rory Culkin
