All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

There's a more than satisfactory amount of boom-boom in the movie's trim running time.

A wooden parody on something like humor. This can not even be called a french humor(a type like English humor or American humor), it's just an antics.

The Pink Panther 2 is a good movie with a well developed storyline and a fantastic comedic cast. It may not be the same delightful ride the first movie was, but it still brings in plenty of entertainment, laughs and some superb comedic performances, Steve Martin is still in great form as Inspector Clouseau, a portrayal I will always find immensely underrated, he brings in a lot of the same slapstick and cringe humour that we've come to expect from the character, he still seems like he's having a great time and that is the main thing that holds the movie together. In comparison to the first movie, it felt like it was trying harder with comedy, the slapstick humour felt more forced this time around, it wasn't executed as well, just getting straight to the point, but this takes away from the chaos and suspense that is suppose to be delivered with these moments. I also felt the story was a bit more complicated than it really needed to be, it should really have only focused on the Pink Panther diamond and not other artifacts, and I think it should have only took place mainly in France like the first movie did, instead of jumping around to different countries, which got a little bit out of hand after a while and felt unnecessary. Though it may not be everything you would want in a sequel, Pink Panther 2 still delivers with big laughs and a great cast, I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good comedy. Clouseau must team up with a group of top class detectives to catch the Tornado, a man who has been stealing priceless artifacts from across the globe. Best Performance: Steve Martin Worst Performance: Lily Tomlin

The Pink Panther 2 (2009): Dir: Harold Zwart / Cast: Steve Martin, Jean Reno, Alfred Molina, Emily Mortimer, John Cleese: Pitiful sequel where Inspector Jacquac Clouseau is united with a dream team of detectives to solve the thefts regarding The Tornado. Of course, he screws things up unintentionally but the screenplay was screwed up already. Perhaps he should solve the case of the missing good screenwriters. Directed by Harold Zwart who previously made One Night at McCool's and Agent Cody Banks. This is not much of an advancement. Steve Martin returns as Clouseau who is first seen at a demoted job location as a meter maid. He is assigned to this case where he must reclaim the Pink Panther diamond yet again. Martin survives the material with his mishaps and pure luck. Jean Reno returns as his faithful sidekick suffering from a shaky marriage but unfortunately this is a mere afterthought. Emily Mortimer plays Clouseau's assistant / girlfriend. And that is pretty much the height of her involvement. John Cleese is featured as the foil who appoints Clouseau to the case but the role is standard issue. It is obvious that he will witness Clouseau luck out again and solve the case. Alfred Molina is also featured the chief inspector and yet another useless foil. The film is visually well made with a few effective sight jokes yet it is also pointless and an unnecessary sequel. Score: 2 ½ / 10

I cannot understand why this movie was made? How can Steve Martin live with himself? He should be buried alive for foisting this abomination on the viewing public. Peter Sellars was a true genius and an unrivalled master as a comic actor in this role. His acting was both intelligent and inspired; Steve Martin on the other hand has simply made himself look utterly stupid. In any event I feel that Kevin Klein would have made a far better job of the Clouseau role if it had to be done at all. A great part of the charm of the Pink Panther movies was derived from the exclusively sixties flavour, the vehicles, the fashion and above all the actors who were extraordinarily well cast. The original Pink Panther movies attracted a varied and selective audience whereas the modern Pink Panther could only attract the accolade of the terminally stupid. Could we perhaps organise a petition to stop Steve Martin from repeating this offensive twaddle or maybe have a whip round and buy him off.
