In this darkly romantic ghost story, a woman travels to an isolated cabin where she is stalked by an apparition who inhabits her space as his own. With the unexpected arrival of the woman’s boyfriend, the dark spirit’s haunting grows obsessive. Soon the woman begins to exhibit weirdly irrational behavior as the thin line between sanity and possession begins to unravel. Is she battling her inner demons, or is a much darker presence threatening them all?

It is a performances centric movie

It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.

Blending excellent reporting and strong storytelling, this is a disturbing film truly stranger than fiction

The storyline feels a little thin and moth-eaten in parts but this sequel is plenty of fun.

So I don't understand. With so much garbage put there like these boring zombie and slasher movies that ate supposed to scare you a movie that actually does scare you like The Presence it gets slammed not just by critics but by regular people as well that didn't give it a chance because of the greasy palmed critics..The Presence was great it wasn't the scariest although I got the chills many times but it told a good.story about a father and daughter with an amazing twist as the end. I am giving bit ten stars based on the unjustly reviews this hidden gem got. Whoever wrote and directed this movie. Thanks..I enjoyed it

The film does have some strong points, but concludes in a fatally flawed ending. The cinematography and scenery were beautiful. However, the characters' relationship remains quite 'cold' and fraught. Thus, it can hardly qualify to be called romantic. It was, instead, a small scale exploration of how a woman with psychological trauma deals with the possibilities of a new relationship. On that count, it did quite well. The unknown nature of the apparition also played well through the first half of the film until it ended in a Faustian twist. Unfortunately, the film went downhill from there. There was no more suspense to sustain the viewer's interest. But worst of all is the Deus ex Machina ending. It left me feeling cheated and provides no sense of resolution. Is the filmmaker trying to say that the only path to healing is through a divine intervention? Are we nothing but playthings of higher powers or film auteurs?

I noticed a lot of reviewers slammed this movie because they were looking for a horror movie with the emphasis on blood and guts and fear. I was happily surprised to find that this movie, while a ghost story, is also a love story, with a life after death theme. (Anyone who expected the blood and guts should realize with a PG rating, this movie would not satisfy!) I really enjoyed this movie and thought it was the perfect ghost story! I think women would probably enjoy this movie more than men. I also think Mira Sorvino is an excellent actress and her acting skills made the movie very enjoyable to watch. The scenery is quite lovely throughout the movie, and I think the peaceful setting was used strategically throughout the movie in stark contrast the inner conflicts portrayed by the heroine. I also liked the way the movie unfolded, slowly giving us more and more information about the characters so their stories became clear. I understand why some people gave this movie a low rating due to their expectations, however, if you can leave them behind, I think you will find that it is an enjoyable and captivating 90 minutes of film.

No matter how bored you are, this movie will make you even more bored. You'll have to watch 18 minutes in to actually hear someone speak. Some movies are quiet in a good way, this one just plainly sucks. How it can call itself a horror film stuns me, since you have non - whatsoever empathy for the characters. The only thing that is good about this movie is the Shane Wests (the, I guess, ghost?) make up and acting, but that gets destroyed since he doesn't do or say anything! At one point he screams, and since this is so uneventful, I am now wondering if that is a spoiler.Don't watch this. It's so bad that it isn't even fun. You will regret it.
