A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.

It's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.

A terrific action tale starring the exceptionally talented actor Kataoka Chiezo as Murasaki Zukin. He is the mysterious hooded man, a hero of the people, and a master of disguise, also highly skilled with sword & ninja throwing knives. The Purple Hooded Man intuitively appears out of nowhere, always just in time to help those in need. The setting is the late 1700s, now under the rule of the evil Lord Tanuma who brings misery & misfortune upon the common folk. On a righteous path and with his menacing presence the Hooded Man fearlessly confronts and stares down all adversaries... Murasaki Zukin is a wonderfully entertaining Japanese Classic, highlighted with fabulous action, outstanding performances, and also featuring some captivating song and dance. Highly Recommended
