Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
View MoreThe story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
View MoreOne of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.
View MoreIt’s fine. It's literally the definition of a fine movie. You’ve seen it before, you know every beat and outcome before the characters even do. Only question is how much escapism you’re looking for.
View MoreMy pleasure with these Globe on Screen videos continues. This production of the Tempest is so rooted in Jacobean stage-craft that it makes me wonder that directors ever bothered with modern dress productions, or gimmicky stage effects. I can forget about Peter Greenaway and the other people who have mauled this play.Jeremy Herrin, director and Max Jones, designer have done a fine job of bringing the play alive. Roger Allam is an excellent Prospero, Joshua James and Jessie Buckley are very appealing as the lovers, and Trevor Fox makes a funny Trinculo in a clown's hat. There is singing, dancing and musicians on stage who perform wonderfully. I'm going to order this one.
