I have absolutely never seen anything like this movie before. You have to see this movie.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

So, it took three attempts to try and make this film. Why does it look so amateurish? The framing of the shots is terrible, awful lighting, cheap audio cuts, and poor acting. I guess the acting is excusable, since indie flicks using local talent aren't known for their breakout performances.I don't know why people like this movie though. I laughed only once, really. The whole mentally-challenged angle was old as soon as it was introduced. The writing stalls often. You can't just coast on a few good lines for an entire movie. Also, the main dude is such a whiny bitch, seriously. Girls *hate* insecure, non-confident dudes. They should have never gotten together in the first place. A for effort to actually get the movie written and filmed and edited and sent out. Great, phenomenal. But the actual movie itself really isn't a super strong debut.

For a non-major Hollywood production, then "The Truth About Average Guys" actually came off as a rather good movie.The story told in the movie is fairly straight forward, though at times it is a tad over the top. But all together it works well enough. The characters are well-played and work well enough, though at times it is a bit tedious. There were some funny moments throughout the movie, and the story did progress at a fairly steady pace.As for the cast in "The Truth About Average Guys", then people did a good job. The movie was carried by Ken Gayton (playing Jason Lewis) and Erika Walter (playing Katie Banks). The funny guy in the movie made it all worthwhile, Jason Schaver (playing Troy)."The Truth About Average Guys" is great for a single viewing, at least for me. This is not a movie that I will be returning to for a second watching though. The movie could have been much more with bigger funding, but hats off to the movie guys for managing to put this movie together with such a good outcome.

A friend of mine saw this film at the 2009 Trail Dance Film Festival (where the film won "Best Comedy" and "Best of Festival"). He bought a copy of the film after the screening, and got it signed by filmmakers and stars of the film Jason Schaver and Ken Gayton. He said "you have to watch this!!!". So I did, and I must say I was really impressed. After the film he told me that the budget was only $5000. I could not believe it. I was thinking more along the lines of $50,000 or something.This film had me in stitches. As "Troy", Schaver was reminiscent of a young Jack Black. And Gayton brings to mind someone like Justin Long, but with a little more range and humor (long seems to play the same character in every film). And I thought all the guy friends were hilarious. The music in the film was also quite good. Most low budget indies have horrible music, but the music in this film really added to it.I am so glad to see that they got a distribution deal for this film. I definitely recommend that everyone go out and pick up a copy. The bonus features alone are worth the money. It's already on netflix and blockbuster.com I cannot wait to see what these two talented guys do next. They did a lot with a little and it shows.

I was at the Trail Dance Film Festival in Oklahoma and was able to catch the comedy, "The Truth About Average Guys" a low budget feature film. It really is an exceptionally well done film, considering the budget constraints and had me laughing for most of the film. It won a number of awards at this festival, garnering the best of festival award, as well as best comedy, and the best actress award for Erika Walter. The whole cast delivers wonderful performances and are talented comedic performers which makes this film engaging from start to finish. Katie, (Erika Walter) is the lead love interest of Jason (Ken Gayton), both young and talented performers who engage in a slightly unorthodox relationship. The twist is that Jason has lied to Katie about something rather important, and hilarity ensues to prevent the truth from coming out. A really good independent film, a little slow moving at times, but definitely worth watching!!!
