Anyone with a degree from a respectable United States university will roll their eyes at the title after viewing. What Oliver Stone presents is far from the "untold" history of the United States. Rather, it is the preached party-line of academia. It is told every day. If you have never been exposed to this alternate point of view, you might consider this series interesting and worthwhile.Essentially, the alternate vantage is that the United States acts with ruthless self-interest, and is ruled by a small cadre of elitists. I suggest the actual truth lies somewhere in the middle. The pacing and presentation of this "history" lesson is a bit like General X's history lesson from Oliver Stone's "JFK." If you got a kick out of that monologue, you'll eat this documentary up.

They should play this series from giant TVs on every street corner! "We all cherish our children's future, and we are all mortal" -JFKIf you've ever wanted to do something good for the world but had no idea how, watch this series. Know where you stand. Where we all stand. Know why the world is the way it is, how it got here, where it's heading if uninterrupted. We are all humans. We are all capable of understanding the world we live in and guiding it forward. The world is not as pretty and peaceful as the narrative we are fed. The leaders we have looked to are not as perfect as their PR campaigns claim. Everybody should know the truth of our history so they can do their part to make a better future. Also, not sure why this series is viewed as un-American. It is not. It's just an honest look at history. No fairy tale, no super human heroes, no pretty little narrative. Just honesty. The only thing it seems to be is anti-military. Which is something we should all be against. Watch the series, do some research, and understand why.

This is a scary kind of series because it masquerades as facts when, in reality, much of it is hardly factual and material is often misrepresented. Many of the quotes are misrepresented and partial; some citations are inaccurate or cite less-than-reliable sources...I don't even know where to start and where to end. Just be careful. There are holes everywhere, and if you don't know much about history it's easy to believe it.

As a history major, this is easily the worst hisdoc I've seen in my life. It's like Michael Moore and James Cameron screwed and had Oliver Stone as a baby, then got their historical facts from 1970s USSR libraries. I made it through 2 episodes on Netflix before having to just stop bothering. I probably should of started a counter or started tally marking off how many out-of-context events are covered. I don't think it got further than 2-3 minutes in before it started. I felt the need the write a review, because it's always such a pet peeve to see morons involve their delusional political views (right wing or left wing) in a HISTORICAL DOCUMENTARY. As a moderate, the leftist propaganda is absolutely laughable. If if fits your historically inaccurate views, I'd suggest watching it, you'd probably like it. However, if you're actually trying to learn anything, or save brain cells, I'd suggest finding something else in your browse for indie films on Netflix.
