Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.

It is neither dumb nor smart enough to be fun, and spends way too much time with its boring human characters.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

One of the most extraordinary films you will see this year. Take that as you want.

"Tri orísky pro Popelku" or "Three Wishes for Cinderella" is a Czech/East German 82-minute film from the early 1970s. By now, it has become a bit of a tradition to watch this film during the holidays in Germany. Of course, it is an adaptation of the famous fairytale and for all the actors and director/writer it is pretty much the most known work of their career. Lead actress Libuse Safránková may be the exception as she also co-starred in the Academy Award winning Kolja.Anyway, the story is about a housemaid who gets humiliated again and again by her boss. The boss is a fat woman in her 50s who wants to see her (equally unattractive) daughter get married to the prince. Of course, the prince develops more of an interest into the super-cute housemaid. There is no problem if you know the story, or at least the central plot points (you probably will), it is still a decent watch. There are a couple unrealistic moments and the acting is not always spot-on (except the excellent Carola Braunbock), but it's a fantasy fairytale and that's why it is bearable. There were no truly outstanding moments in here, but overall, it's a well-rounded work and I recommend the watch. Its popularity around the holidays here baffles me a bit, but it's not a bad film by any means. The lead actress has recently been in the headlines again because of her cancer, but I hope she can recover completely, so there will be no bitter taste attached to this movie when we and the next generations keep watching it during the holidays. I also liked the many animals in here, but I certainly could have done without the hunt scenes. All in all, a decent watch. Recommended.

I had been wracking my brain for years trying to remember the name of this movie. All I could think of was that there were three magical nuts and when the girl would throw the nuts on the ground, different clothes would appear. I believe she was a very strong willed girl and not easily tempted by the interest of a prince - but then again it's been a long time since I've seen it. Finally when I put 'Cinderella' in the title search - voilà - there it was!! I remember watching this around the holidays as a young girl in Canada and I always loved it. It was one of those Christmas shows that you just had to watch year after year. I still have many shows like that now. It's not Christmas without watching certain shows and this may become one of those shows again. I hope to find it find it on YouTube in full to watch again with my daughter.

I saw this movie, growing up in Chicago, IL on the Kukla, Fran and Ollie show. I fell in love with it then and it made an impression on me as well. Unfortunately, I was very young then, and I could not even remember what country it had come from! All, I knew is that in this version of Cinderella, there was on owl instead of a fairy God mother, and three magical hazel nuts. Over the years I tried to find it, but to no luck. None of my friends or family remembered seeing it aired on television here in the States. But thanks to the "determined" little child within me, and of course, the Internet, I finally found a copy! And even if the subtitles are not perfect, I don't care, its just as magical to me now as it was when I was 8!

This film is just magic! It's a marvelous adaption of a fairy tale with great actors (most of all Safrankova in the lead), beautiful photography and a lovely musical score. The Aschenputtel ("Cinderella") story includes some neat changes compared to the classic Brother's Grimm tale which all add to a wonderful movie. I wish there would be more enjoyable, timeless and innocent films like this. It may have been made for children, but it's worth a watch for everyone from 4 to 100. As said before, it's on German TV every Christmas - in 2005 it aired about eleven times on different channels. A must-see for every fan of fairy tale and romance.
