Don't listen to the negative reviews
At first rather annoying in its heavy emphasis on reenactments, this movie ultimately proves fascinating, simply because the complicated, highly dramatic tale it tells still almost defies belief.

View MoreSeñor Manuel is a very kind older man who is beloved by the community. One day, rather unexpectedly, he brings a very pretty and young woman home--announcing that she is his new fiancée. Howver, he has to go away on business and asks Gabriel to look after Luisa. This is a problem, however, as Gabriel took an instant dislike towards her and thinks she is a gold-digger. However, over time, a spark of romance begins between the two. But what about Señor Manuel? How will all this work out in this romantic triangle? I must warn you about something odd about this film. When the credits first begin to roll, the film is NOT finished! Yes, it's sort of a false ending--followed by an epilogue which ties all the loose ends of the story together. So, when you watch the film, don't stop watching and feel irritated that there is no resolution...keep watching! As to my score for this film, I gave it a 7 for its technical merits, though I was torn and felt it was actually a bit better than this as far as watchability goes. It's a wonderful date movie--very romantic and with terrific music. It's just that the film itself is a bit hard to believe and plays more like a romance novel than real life. Now this is NOT really a complaint--just a comment about the style. So, if you love a good romance novel and are open enough to watch international films, then you are in for a treat with this one. Well worth seeing and enjoyable throughout.
