Brilliant and touching

It's a mild crowd pleaser for people who are exhausted by blockbusters.

One of the film's great tricks is that, for a time, you think it will go down a rabbit hole of unrealistic glorification.

This is possibly THE WORST FILM IN CREATION. The actors are BAD. The only thing that this film has is gore and blood and guts. Thats it. If your looking for a decent film that actually has a storyline and reasonably good acting then don't even bother with this film. If you can get past just the trailer then you have BAD TASTE!!! This is definitely a perfect film for stoned off their trolleys people as quoted by another reviewer. I normally do love gore fest films such as Planet Terror but this film is absolutely nothing like that. That film was actually ridiculously brilliant. I don't know what people are talking about when they say the visual effects are brilliant, they are possible THE WORST effects to ever be put into a film, they couldn't be anymore UNREALISTIC!!! This is what happens when film makers who don't have a lot of money make a horror movie. They literally just fill it from beginning to end with nothing but blood, guts and sex!!! What happened to taking advice from film makers like George A Romero who didn't bother with either barely any nudity or none at all in all of his films. You shouldn't have to cram all this crap into a film to get it to sell. I know they say sex sells but get real, have at least some class!!!

Set in a future-world vision of Tokyo where the police have been privatized and bitter self-mutilation is so casual that advertising is often specially geared to the "cutter" demographic, this is the story of samurai-sword-wielding Ruka and her mission to avenge her father's assassination.OK, so?All this movie proves is that the Japanese are truly insane. There is a huge problem inherent with the directing of this film:All the gore is filmed in super close up so you have no idea what you are supposed to be seeing!Who thought that one up? Not sure why some people said this is like RoboCop. It's not in the slightest. It's more like Kill Bill in some ways. Only bad. There are some crazy fetishes in this one. And none that are good.

One star of five; three black holes (opposite of stars) for cinematography, special effects, and acting.Cinematography: 2/10 Often dark with insufficient contrast and soft focus. Framing mistakes, jumpy camera work. Panning with blur. Blood on the lens, too many times. The blood here is Texas Longhorn orange; that is, not very red. Yellow and orange filters applied for no apparent reason.Sound: 2/10 Weak. The incidental music is often amateurish in composition, poor in quality, and hollow sounding. At times it seems the actors are not miked properly. There was a significant number of lines spoken in Japanese that had no related English subtitles. This did not help following the plot.Acting: 2/10 There are too many actors with total lack of affect: stone faced and silent without much body English. The protagonist is the prime example. Also, her fight movements are often out of sync by one to five seconds, as if reacting to off-camera cues.Screenplay: 3/10 Gallons of blood sprayed, followed by zero landing on actors' clothes. This repeated a dozen times or so. Acquaintance with the laws of physics and logic is out the window. Given that, we're down to special effects and character motivation. The FX were really bad, so motivation would have to drive the plot. Motivation is fairly well lost as well. One segment goes to another with little or no explanation. The plot is more of an archipelago than a road from here to there.Special Effects: 2/10 Cheesy blood spatter. Enough blood to float small boats. Badly done fake chopped off body parts. Blood pipes made obvious when a limb or neck or finger is sliced off.

This is a tough one - how do you review a film that basically has no plot? I'll try.A mad scientist has developed a virus that mutates humans into hideous killing machines, and a special paramilitary squad, lead by the sexy and ice cold Ruka, is working hard to maintain order in the streets of futuristic Tokyo. It is over the top to the max with absolutely all the disgusting gore, blood, guts and violence you could ever wish for. I promise you that "Tokyo Gore Police" isn't like anything you have ever seen before, and even though I try very hard, I really can't compare to anything. What I especially love about these Japanese films is the humour; again outrageous and over the top leaving you giggle like a little school girl. But to enjoys it, you will have to love plot less and brain dead films. If you do, I promise you that "Tokyo Gore Police" gives you a wild ride.
