View MoreGreat story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
View More.Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
View MoreI was surprised by this film - it was highly entertaining. I recorded it from the Horror Channel and fortunately they advertised the film as horror, not horror comedy (I'm not a big fan) otherwise I wouldn't have bothered. I am so glad that I recorded it - It is horror with a dark comedic underlay and it works so well. The characters are brilliant, memorable and well acted; the gore factor is huge and brilliant, and the story line is excellent too. In parts it reminded me of House of 1000 Corpses (one of my all time favourite films). I really really enjoyed this film and will be buying the DVD and recommending it to others. Brilliant.
View MoreI don't know why some people watch horrors expecting them to have the best actresses, actors, story lines, special effects etc. There are many low budget (or non blockbuster) horrors that far surpass their huge budget/blockbuster counterparts - which often turn out to be a "flop". This is one of these films.By all means if you only like psychological thriller type horrors, this is not the film for you. If you are a true horror fan and can appreciate a horror film on the "horror" alone, you'll most likely quite like this one. The acting was pretty good, the storyline is perfect imo (not too detailed enough to detract from the gore/terror and not too weak that you want to smack the TV) for the type of film it is, effects are actually really good imo. This is quite simply, a film that does not get hung up on trying to appeal with a love story or some amazing intricate storyline that bends the viewers mind. Do not mistake this for a bad thing. I was expecting a much lower quality of film and while I wouldn't rank it as one of the best horrors, I certainly found it enjoyable to watch, especially once it really got into it (not including the opening scene as I found that easy to watch also). And personally, the songs throughout it I thought were really good too - even if they're not what I would listen to, they were perfect for this film.
View MoreNewspaper clipping about disappearances in the vicinity of the trailer park leads us up to present day. Enter the victims in the form of Pastor Lewis and his bus of teenage misfits. The group and the events surrounding them are as cliché as they get; drug addict, jerk, slut, etc. A storm comes, the bus crashes, no cell phone signal, you know the drill. While the group of teens are irritating in varying degrees, the inane dialog was more tolerable than most, and this chatter is kept at reasonable levels. Stranded in the middle of nowhere with nothing in sight but the trailer park. They are greeted by the very hospitable Norma who invites them in out of the rain. She serves refreshments, shares some stories, and then shows the group to the seemingly uninhabited trailers to spend the night. Doesn't exactly sound electric at this point but that's because we're talking about the victims. When night falls, the trailer park comes alive (in an undead sort of way)! The real fun in this movie comes from the wonderfully warped residents of the trailer park. First and foremost, Norma played by Nichole Hiltz rocked! Sweet and endearing one moment and coo-coo crazy the next (when the crazy hits she reminded me of Joy from My Name Is Earl). It's by no fault of her own that Norma grew up with her prostitute mama in this trailer park of hideous men. But Norma is full of spunk making the best of her new undead situation and really embracing her redneck roots. Norma's creepy cohorts who once made her life a living hell are now her permanent undead companions. Marv is a bit of a thug but has a serious crush on Norma. Stank makes delicious jerky and is number one customer of Miss China. Miss China is the local "masseuse" who offers her "services" to the residents and truck drivers passing through. The gluttonous Larlene is Stank's best customer and can't get enough meat in any form. Finally we have rockabilly guitar playing drug addict Roach. A hideously fascinating and often hilarious group that had me mesmerized every second they were on screen! The interaction between the trailer park residents is full of snappy and hilarious dialog, excellent visuals and great music! The rockabilly soundtrack is perfect. I loved the way they incorporate Roach's delightful guitar ditties into a scene and how he sorta resembles the dude on the cover of The Cramps album Bad Music For Bad People. The make-up effects used on all the residents are outstanding. It takes a lot of work to look as adorable as Norma when you're a rotting corpse! Watching her primping and preening was very entertaining! The effects in general are impressive and there is some really great gore and fun and creative deaths. I don't want to spoil all the fun of the jerky scene so let's just say you get a very informative and graphic demonstration of Stank's jerky making technique. The only complaint I really have is I would have liked one more really meaty gore scene. A couple of the teens die somewhat uneventfully and personally I would have really liked to see Larlene have a grandly graphic gourmet dinner. It's just business as usual in the old trailer park. Drag racin', drinkin', making sex films and delicious jerky!Trailer Park of Terror is based on the Imperium Comics series of the same name. I know practically nothing about the world of comics and graphic novels and I never knew this one even existed, so needless to say I can't speak to how it compares. All I know is I thoroughly enjoyed Trailer Park Of Terror. It has great characters, excellent music and impressive effects that had me laughing and delightfully disgusted. Highly Recommended!
View MoreTrailer Park of Terror starts as Pastor Lewis (Matthew Del Negro) from the Vertical Trinity school for loser kids stops off a road side diner, on his bus are several troubled kids he intends to take out for a bonding weekend in the woods or something like that. However word is that a severe storm is causing problems & rather predictably Pastor Lewis crashes the bus during heavy rain, stuck in the middle of nowhere Lewis sees a sign for a nearby trailer park & decides to check it out in the hope of finding help. There a pretty woman named Norma (Nichole Hiltz) says they can all spend the night there. Unfortunately the trailer park belongs to zombie Redneck freaks who like to torture & kill anyone they meet, will Pastor Lewis or any of his kids escape alive?Directed by Steven Goldmann when I first heard the title Trailer Park of Terror I actually though it was going to be one of those compilations of old horror & exploitation flick theatrical trailers, it's really only when I sat down to watch it that I realised it was a film in it's own right & while not a terribly bad film it's not terribly good one either. The first half of Trailer Park of Terror is rather dull & drawn out, not that much happens really & there's an attempt spice things up with a fractured narrative with flashbacks & a large chunk of the plot out of sequence. The first half of the film also spends a fair amount of time on the bickering between the various kids who all have troubles like a shoplifter, a junkie & a whore which is then totally dropped from the second half of the film as character development becomes zero. The film really gets going after the 50 odd minute mark as the killing & depraved sexual goings on start, we also get Redneck zombies & a total lack of plot or reason. Apart from some vague rubbish about a pact with the Devil there's no reason why there are zombies, it was Norma who made the deal anyway so why are the other zombies there? There's no reason why they are so sadistic, there's no reason why they just kill anyone they see other than that's what zombies do I suppose. Set in & around a trailer park this film does not show trailer park residents in a good light, it show's them as backward, sadistic, disgusting, fat, depraved foul mouthed criminals who live in squalid conditions & treat each other like dirt & as such couldn't be called flattering.Available in both 'R' rated & 'Unrated' versions (in the US anyway, I would imagine international versions would be based on the Unrated cut) I saw the Unrated cut which is basically a few seconds longer (about 40 seconds to be precise) & has no additional plot or exposition but does contain a few extra frames of the arm cutting scene & more shots of the skinning. To be fair there's some good gore here, there's a ripped-off head, bloody gunshot wounds, a ripped out spine, skinned & gutted animals, some intestine eating, a cut off arm, plenty of blood splatter, some rotting zombies & a very grim & sadistic scene in which a guy is skinned alive, fed his own flesh & then deep fried. There are also some sex & nudity here, I still don't understand why these zombies would want to make a sex video but they try anyway. Overall this is quite well made with good effects & decent photography although I hated the soundtrack with it's awful songs, the scene in which the two kids are forced to have sex by Norma is inter-cut with a zombie playing guitar & singing a truly awful awful song which made my head hurt. A lot.Apparently shot in about eighteen days in Georgia the production values are pretty good & don't have that cheapness many recent low budget horror films do. The acting is alright with the pretty Nichole Hiltz particularly good value.Trailer Park of Terror is one of the better recent low budget horror films, that's scant praise in itself I suppose but you could do worse if your looking for some blood, gore, depravity & sex without anything like a story to get in the way. Better than I expected but that's hardly any recommendation in or by itself.
