One of my all time favorites.

It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional

This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.

This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows

A modern retelling of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic tale that portrays our cast "IN SPACE".The action and atmosphere are excellent, and the father-son bond that builds between Jim and Long John Silver is another highlight of the film amid is a great example of "show, don't tell".The only things that I'm not a huge fan of are Morph and B.E.N. Both characters can be very annoying at times, especially B.E.N. (no offense Martin Short...)Overall, it's a fantastic adaptation with a few errors here and there.

Alright so this was one of the very first movies I completely fell in love with when I was younger. I must've watched it at least 20 times in the timespan of like a year back then. I planned on rewatching it for a long time but just never really got around to it. And so finally, 10+ years later, here we are. How does it hold up?..Sure it's totally flawed in a lot of areas. My personal major complaint being that it suffers from a lot of the usual Disney tropes and relies on a very basic/familiar plot and story structure. Oh, and how does Scoop's death scene work? I mean it's a really cool and well done action set-piece but it doesn't make any sense lmao.Still though, the universe Clements and Musker managed to create here is just as fantastic as I remembered. They completely nailed the mixing of 2D and 3D animation, the character designs are very interesting, and the highly stylized animation on all of the planets, ships and spacey backgrounds is utterly mesmerizing. All of this just makes the whole experience so much more unique and memorable. All of the central characters and their intertwining relationships worked for me aswell, especially Captain Amelia x Doppler, B.E.N. x Jim, Morph x everyone, and ofcourse John Silver x Jim - that speech Silver gives to Jim is as good as it gets <3In the end it's obviously not the 10/10 masterpiece that it was to me when I was 6, but I'm so so happy to say that this rewatch did not ruin my extremely fond memories of this film at all. It pretty much just confirmed my theory that this is one of the most underappreciated things Disney has ever done.Do not sleep on it.

When this movie released I was too young to give it the support it deserves. Now looking back, having watched this movie more than 10 times in the past year alone, I wish it got more love at release. If you haven't watched it I highly recommend it. The animation is breathtaking, the story is well written and the sound track fits perfectly. If you have seen it go watch it again. You know you want to.

I wonder why we hadn't heard of this movie before? I thought the movie had a good story, good special effects and there were several moments that my husband and I both laughed out loud! There are two characters in the movie that were our favorites (one adorably cute and one funny). I don't want to say too much and give away the story and/or the characters. I can't wait to re-watch it with my 8-year-old grandson because I don't remember any bad language in it. Enjoy and God bless! OK, my review wasn't long enough to submit yet, so I will add that it was a good mix of drama, humor, adventure, real-life situations and fantasy! My husband said it hasn't been seen by as many people as other Disney movies, yet it has that Disney quality!
