Let's be realistic.

A Brilliant Conflict
It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
View MoreThis is the kind of movie that stands or falls on its ending - and the ending of "Uncertainty" makes the whole thing rather pointless. You expect the two "realities" to merge, or collide, or something, but nothing happens. The writers-directors get some tension going in the Manhattan section at least, but the Brooklyn part is incredibly mundane (intentionally, I know, but still....). The film is also too long, but good chemistry between the two leads and nice New York location footage keep it from being a total waste of time. If you take out one violent shooting, it could almost be classified as a high-concept "chick flick". ** out of 4.
View MoreA disappointing and direction-less affair, which is a pity because it looks great and the leads are engaging. I don't doubt that there is a complex treatise being played out here somewhere, but it is completely inaccessible to the viewer to the point where, for me, the actions of the characters became pointless and therefore frustrating. If you haven't seen it, watch 'Brick' to see Joseph Gordon Levitt give an excellent lead performance, or if you fancy some tricky time shifting malarkey, check out the excellent 'Memento' if you haven't already, watch 'Donnie Darko' again or discover the excellent 'Primer', which is a hidden gem that deserves to be seen much more widely.
View MoreThis is what happens when some movie executive thinks that an gimmmick is a good enough basis for a film. What you have is a vaguely interesting story which is intercut with a completely uninteresting story. Even the vaguely interesting bit only adds up to about 25 of a 1hr45min film. After about an hour of this nonsense i started forwarding the completely uninteresting bit.The gimmick is like this: Try to imagine i dunno, say 'phonebooth'. But at the start it splits into two separate strands.1. Colin Farrel went to the phonebooth and stuff happened.2. Colin Farrel did not go to the phonebooth but went on about his business like any normal day. Its stupid and only works if both strands are interesting. In fact i am typing this while the 'intersting' bit is playing in the backgound in a tiny hidden window. So, I guess im not that impressed.
View MoreA couple finds a cell phone in a cab. The guy decides to return it. He leaves massages to a couple of numbers on the cell to come back and it pick it up.. At the place he decided to meet one of the claimed owners came some guy and killed some other guy, probably the competitor over the phone.. And then the plot Thickens?? Not!!!At the beginning it starts as a thriller, then there's like two hours of boring family life of one of the characters - seriously - its forever - and while you expect a hole suspense movie which will just be more and more suspenseful - you fall into more Borden..Plus - the decision of the main characters of what to do with a lethal caller (hint - Bergen for money with a killer - yeah) - was absolutely ridiculous.. But it could have been forgiven if SOMETHING would happen to the movie after this.. But NOTHING happens!! I give (myself) 10/10 for watching this. U can skip it.
