Best movie of this year hands down!
Gripping story with well-crafted characters
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
View MoreGreat story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
View MoreWell, let me get straight into the film. A regular story line already familiar to the audience. Son gets murdered, father out for revenge. A typical Seagal flick. The only difference I noted was Seagal got shot once!!! can you believe it????? But yes, he did. Other than that, Seagal just beats up the bad guys, who does not even land one back, and he does not even re-load his gun even once. He fires 10-20 shots back to back.Ya..kinda funny.Typical Seagal fanboys, this one is tailor made for you. For others who are hoping for a good action movie, maybe it's better you skip this one. No twists or turns in the plot. Very predictable. If you've got nothing else to do on a weekend, grab a beer and watch it. And don't hope for too much. Hope it helps.
View MoreReview: I was expecting this movie to be really bad but it's actually watchable with some good action scenes. The storyline is about Seagal looking to revenge the death of his son after he gets mysteriously shot down on the streets of L.A. The cops try to make it look like a straight forward gang shooting, but Seagal isn't buying there story. He moves near to were the shooting took place and he delves into the underworld to try and work out why his son, who was also a police officer, was killed in cold blood. The storyline is basic and the movie did look quite cheap but it isn't that bad. There isn't any amazing twists but it's great watching Seagal kick butt without any damage to himself. Basically, it's what it says on the tin so it worth a watch if your into your mindless action movies. OK!Round-Up: This was made when Seagal was coming out with some decent movies but his career was on a downhill spiral. His coolness throughout the movie is classic Seagal, which we have all before and he seemed to actually move in his action scenes, which he is having problems with doing nowadays. I'm yet to see Seagal come up against a decent opponent who would give him a good fight but I still like watching him take down his enemies. Although the film went straight to DVD, it is better than his later work which are quite terrible. I recommend this movie to people who are into their action movies about Seagal seeking revenge after his son gets shot down in L.A. 3/10
View MoreYou must be possibly bored with Steven Seagal taking on international mercenaries well so am I? In this fourth and final installment in Seagal Month, our favorite portly martial artist tries to take on L.A. street gangs with "Urban Justice"! "Urban Justice" has an interesting behind-the-scenes story when during the beginning of production; Screen Gems was considering a theatrical release for this film. Unsurprisingly, this is another one for the straight-to-DVD bin. This film is also notable for the fact Seagal isn't the only famous person in it and it's filmed in Los Angeles and Albuquerque instead of Romania and Bulgaria. So, is Seagal back? You wish.A rookie cop gets killed in a drive-by shooting, and the LAPD dismisses it off as a random act of violence. I guess they haven't learned anything since the Rodney King incident. To make this film already mind-boggling, the slain officer has a father who happens to be an ex-Special Forces operative named Simon Bannister or Simon Ballister whatever I don't care. That's right; Seagal is playing this character just like every role for the past 56 years of his career. Moving into the worst part of L.A., Seagal enlists the help of a liquor store owner (Carmen Sarrano, in a thankless role) and an unlimited supply of guns to take on two rival gangs. Will Seagal avenge the death of a son that we've already forgotten about? Then prepare to be bored in the next 96 minutes. The concept of Seagal facing off against street gangs may sound like mindless fun but it's eminently forgettable and clichéd. It appears that 90% of the film takes place in absolute darkness possibly to cover up Seagal's sweaty skin and multiple chins. The fight scenes are both under directed and over directed to the point of inconsistency. And I'm sorry Don E. Fauntleroy, but you are not Michael Mann. However, there are some positives as Seagal is doubled much, much less and appears in the film more than usual doing his own fights. While Eddie Griffin is insufferable as the main thug, sadly there is not enough Danny Trejo.I guess the real reason "Urban Justice" never got a theatrical release is because moviegoers aren't going to waste their hard-earned money on this formulaic, standard and generic tripe. Three stars for Trejo's all-to-brief appearance, Seagal's hard-to-make-out mumbling and most of all, not filming it in Eastern Europe.Thank god I don't have to review any more of Seagal.
View MoreSeagal plays some sort of ex-CIA/Shadow op/Agent guy with a shady past, who is in town because someone shot his son, and made lots and lots of blood come out of his back.Thats really all you need to know. This is basically a retread of 'Out for Justice' but with a longer time-line and a bad guy who doesn't have a death wish. But this is the best movie Seagal has made in a very long time. Gone is the dubbed voice, Gone are the pathetic fight sequences, and in is a much meaner Seagal, one who means business. The inclusion of Griffin as the Bad guy may make people balk at the idea, but he is actually quite convincing, and is quite intimidating in some scenes. It's still miles away from his Golden age ar even Silver age of movies, but it's probably his best direct to DVD movie he has made. It's short on running time, doesn't have a convoluted plot like a lot of his films, which makes this a lot easier to watch. This is just an action revenge movie, never really testing the grey matter, which should happen in all action movies of this type.
