Absolutely Fantastic

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

There is, somehow, an interesting story here, as well as some good acting. There are also some good scenes

There are moments that feel comical, some horrific, and some downright inspiring but the tonal shifts hardly matter as the end results come to a film that's perfect for this time.

Early western hero Kermit Maynard plays Bob Wilson, who finds himself in jail on a trumped up charge of cattle rustling. Spud Hayes(Jack Ingram), actually a Wilson sidekick, figures he can help Wilson out of jail by forming a lynch mob. Wilson manages a getaway and leads the lynch mob on wild chase. Meanwhile back in town, a slick talking villain, Mark Flemming(John Merton) is trying to cheat the lovely Mary Scott(Haley Wood)out of her ranch. She takes Fleming's money and tries to leave town, with the bad guy holding worthless paper. Wilson tries to figure why there is all this new found interest in the lady's land...its not coal, gold or oil. But there is something of value to be had by the property's owner.Rip roaring old time western full of chase scenes and flying lead. Plenty of action, enough to keep the smallest of buckaroos wanting to help the hero, Kermit Maynard. A lot of those that have deep interest in this genre feel that this may just be Maynard's best.Old Sheriff Judson is played by Hank Bell; while Dick Curtis and Frank McCarroll play bad guys working for Mr. Fleming. Also in the cast: Roger Williams, Jack Casey and Blackie Whiteford. 59 minutes of rusty, dusty cowboy action.

Regardless of the title, this is a tight, fast-moving Western. How many Westerns do you see with Potash as the prized mineral everybody wants, a heroine who can actually act (Harlene Wood), two of the best bad-guys in the business (John Merton and Dick Curtis) and reverse psychology as a major plot point? This film has all of that plus the stoic Kermit Maynard as the hero, Jack Ingram as a funny but intelligent sidekick, and plenty of chases and other action scenes. Recommended for fans of the genre.
