Good concept, poorly executed.
Fantastic!
All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
View Morewhat a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
View More'Villegas' is an Argentine road movie. Two cousins - one straight-laced, neat and tidy; the other a free-spirited, irresponsible slob - journey together to the titular town to attend their grandfather's funeral, their polar opposite personalities ensuring they get on each other's nerves all the way. Once at their hometown, they interact with their family, learn various truths about each other and gradually come to an understanding. Plotting by numbers, then, with cardboard cut-out characters and story developments that will surprise no-one. But it's enjoyable, undemanding entertainment - indeed, if you're a fan of soap operas, you'll love this.
