Wonderful character development!
The Worst Film Ever
disgusting, overrated, pointless
A movie that not only functions as a solid scarefest but a razor-sharp satire.
View MoreI am a fan of disturbing, limits pushing movies. I can easily say i've watched many of the genre. So let me express my puzzlement about the comments on this movie.A movie must be really original and really deeply offensive for mankind to be called "disturbing". This movie may be psychologically disturbing in some level but has nothing original and deeply disturbing, if you think about it. Let's assume you will make a disturbing movie about a family, what would you write to disturb people? Incest sex, violence, shared crime? And of course the family members must be insane. Everyone can think of these. So, what is so original and disturbing about this movie? Sorry i can't see it.
View MoreTakashi Miike! This is the only reason why I watched this flick despite of the vague posters. Comedy is really something I feel can not be mixed healthily with the Horror Genre. Anyways in this movie nothing seemed balanced to me. The movie is very disturbing is what I had read. Yeah true it is really disturbing as the opening scene is of a father being seduced by his daughter and having sex. Maybe this is a factor people have given positive reviews on sites that the whole movie is full of these abnormal instances. So much of sex and violence is involved and the concept of incest is exploited. The movie makes no sense to me. The Visitor Q hardly makes sense and nothing is explained. Perverted things keep on happening without any explanation. Hard cuts everywhere ruin the continuity. If people find it redeeming wrt the concept, I strongly object. Things are too exaggerated here which helps in making it dumb. It was rubbish for me. I score just for a scene before climax which I can't tell here as will be considered a spoiler. The climax was again sick. This whole movie is very rubbish. No elements of horror. I could not laugh as well which means the Genre is not clear as well. What I felt was totally sick after watching it. Don't Waste your time.
View MoreAfter years of hunting this movie down I finally got a chance to watch it in my university library (the movie is still banned in New Zealand and can only be watched for study purposes). I left the library in awe and dismayed that a movie as brilliant as this has been branded as unsuitable for the general public. In all honesty, I don't believe that anyone not interested in Miike would be interested in watching the whole movie; and those courageous (or perverse) enough to do so will never forget it for the rest of their lives. The premise of the movie is relatively simple(!) and numerous movies have been made with this concept - a family is breaking up and is helped by a stranger/angel to come together. Using this as the blue print, Miike has then taken the poetic and artistic license to demonstrate their dysfunction and their consequently dysfunctional reunion. The results are hilarious and not all that shocking for Miike fans. The brilliance and class of Miike is evident in each scene and characters. Even though Visitor Q does not belong to the category of Audition, Ichi The Killer and Gozu, it is easily one of the best black comedies I have seen and sits comfortably on the premier tier with the likes of Solondz's Happiness.I for one believe that the ban should be lifted, particularly in free speech societies like New Zealand. There are movies aplenty that have ventured into the areas that this movie has been out-casted for e.g.: Salo, Gozu, The War Zone, Gojitmal. All of these are freely available. Visitor Q is seriously not all that bad.
View MoreWow, I just saw it on DVD, and I couldn't stop laughing. The scene when the father is stuck "in" the reporter... it was so over the top and insane and funny, that I think I just peed my pants.Who would have thought, a movie that talks about: incest, rape, bullying, with insane black humor, that promotes family values...I'm surprised so many people didn't get the humor/meaning of this movie. You have to go beyond the violence/sex to understand it, like any Miike's film.Unique, extremely funny and disturbing.8/10
